hey Marg... I remember when that movie came out. Everyone ran out and bought leg warmers... lol! I heard that the stunt double who performed the majority of the dancing routines was a guy. Anyway, as far as music and storyline, I never get tired of watching Saturday Night Fever. I was hitting the Disco night clubs during that period... so, it always brings me wonderful memories.
oohh yes John Travolta I loved that and also Grease another I have watched a ton of times..Ummmmm disco dancing I would still like to be hopping around thing is the DH isnt a 'hopper'
Watching my beloved puppy dogs play and frolic. No matter how bad of a day it always makes me forget about anything negative... :0)
Flashdance . . . okay, who didn't have a sweatshirt that hung off of one shoulder back then . . . LOL. But butterfly . . . a guy? I didn't know that! But boy did he have great legs!
Anyway, lots of Disney movies are very happy in the ending department. Remember Beauty and the Beast? We just saw "the Frog and the Princess"------- good music, happy ending true to Disney form.
I am always moved by loving caregivers whether it is an adult caring for their elderly parent or an adult caring for their disabled child. When you see the patience, time and dedication they have in the middle of the hustle and bustle of this world we live in----- I'm moved. It makes me think to slow down and appreciate and nurture those I care about in my life.
Awww Disney movies...Sighs and remembers.....Just thinking about it makes me want to ball my eyes out.
Any one remeber The Last Unicorn? It taught a great lesson about being happy and satisfied with ones self....
To cheer me up I go and get a hug from my little brother. Hes so sweet, he has Downs Syndrome and is the most loveable child I know! When ever I feel down he tries his hardest to cheer me up! Hes such a sweetie, a smile from him is all it takes :-)
Thats lovely Jennifer I remember seeing Sarah Palins little boy on TV he has Downs aswell he looks adorable ,a hug makes all the differance doesnt it ..
I'm agreeing with Stormy, animals, my cat when he gets a bug up his bum and starts chasing anything that rustles (carrier bags are a fave) who needs a gym when your abs hurt so much after laughing that hard!! he's taken to coming to bed with me when i'm not well, he actually stroked my face the other day!! no claws, just paw. i nearly cried!!
Oh god i'm a right sad case!!
Dance double wasn't a guy, lol...her name was Marine Jahan :)
i heard a song on the Radio last eve driving home from work & had to post it on this one, haven't heard in ages, not sure if it was released in the states so i apologise if it means jack shea to you:
D:Ream - things can only get better!
Amazing song & it always makes me feel lucky to have what i have & not to concentrate on the bad stuff!
Yup, Iv heard it but then again im in Ireland, not far from UK. So US might noy have it!! Its a great song!!! Hmmm think I might download it, thanks!!!
I loved Flashdance and still do. The stunt double was actually a female. She was interviewed about the movie. She looked nothing like Jennifer Beale but she's an awesome dancer. I love dance movies...any dance movies. I watched Step Up, Step Up II, Lambada, Take the Lead, Girl's Just Want to Have Fun, Bring the Noise, Salsa, Dance with Me, Dirty Dancing....I can go on and on. All dance movies are inspirational to me because I used to be a dancer and I never continued past age 13. I had been dancing Modern, Ballet and Tap since I was 4 years old. I was so stupid to stop.
Mami, there are always things we'd go back and change. Mine is piano. I would do anything I could to get out of practicing and finally my mom let me give it up. I have our old piano now and it collects dust. Wish I could play it!!
I love dance movies too. I sang "she's a maniac" and did that dance step (in my 40 something speed and style! LOL I look like not just a maniac but a lunatic too). My kids think that is the funniest thing ever. They laugh and laugh. Now they do it. That movie lives on and still makes me feel good! And please, no one picture me doing that dance. . .
Hey gfuys do you watch 'Shimmy' wow I have never seen belly dancing before and by jingo its great ...at least to watch it is , do they have men belly dancers ? anyway I have watched the moves ,called Shimmy and its so much fun ,I see we have a member who does belly dancing, darn I forget her handle ...
Yes, men do belly dance, but it's not the way women do it. I used to take belly dancing and I loved it. It's not as easy as it looks but what a work out and it's sexy...lol. Call me a nut but I want to try stripper classes. Either with or without the pole. They have it at Crunch gyms but I don't know if they are still giving them.
Ahhhh. memories. When I was in college (what was that? about a million years ago), students were able to choose fun electives to "round" out their education. My girlfriends and I chose belly dancing (one of my favorite "college" courses along with yoga, weight lifting, etc.) and it was very fun. To this day I have in a box somewhere the long veil and "clankers" as we called them (I know they have a technical term and some serious belly dancer is rolling their eyes at me right now . . .). Idea . . . hm. What if I surprised husband when he gets back from his business trip. Picture it----- he walks in the door after being gone 9 days and there I am ---- a vision of lovliness all decked out as a belly dancer doing my moves . . .. Okay. I do not want him to go running back out the door again. Sadly, I do not look as I did in college anymore. Oh well. Maybe I will just do it while he is gone for the exercise so I look good in my regular clothes when he walks in the door. Mami------- YOU would look awesome!
And I will cheer you on on that pole!
Thanks girl....lol. Richie would be a happy man if I did get good at it...lol. I'm cheering you on in your belly dancing assemble and "clankers"....lol.
Well I sure like that shimmy programme , I think it could be the unusual backgrounds they use, and the moves are so much Fun ..My Dh likes watching but I bet its a turn on for him LOL
I love belly dancing .I took a few classes here and there. Move aside Shakira the girls from the forum are taking over....LOL
Now this is when we need a webcam!! lol
Ugh, no webcam here please, after having my huge son who left me with a saggy loose belly, my shimmy is more of a jiggle...lol.
mami1323,
Dont say negative things about yourself.... :0)
Besides in actuallity true belly dancers have a bit more to jiggle anyway....
It's totally true though Stormy...lol. Wish it wasn't so but I had a 9 lb 2 oz baby, there was no way of getting around that little something extra he blessed me with...lol.
I've seen the real ones, you are right, they do have jiggly bellies.
what moves me?? laxatives LOL
