Would you pay the price?

We have talked about bringing jobs or keeping them in this country, this weekend I went to buy a pair of work boots and this is what I found. I really wanted a pair of Red Wing boots, I had had a pair a long time ago and they are made here in the USA and Red Wing is an US company. I also looked at WalMart and found a similar pair made in, you guessed it, China. The cost of the Red Wings were $200 and the WalMart $53. It was obvoius that there was a quality difference between the two, but the cost difference made me think, for about 2 seconds. Sticking to what I have said on here about buying American, I bought the Red Wings and will have to make up the cost difference with other things I want.

The question is would you pay the higher cost to keep jobs, and profits, here?

Cheap is surely not the way to go.  Here is an example:  I have a lady that I clean for that buys these nightgowns made here in America that are about $200-$500 a piece.  She has had these for 5 - 10 years and some more.  This proves that paying a little more, actually saves you in the long run.  Made in America is the way to go.  We cannot keep giving our jobs away to people from other countries.  Also, most of the workers tha make these items in other countries are basically paid nothing and forced to work many many hours.  Some even forced to work in terrible and disgusting environments. Why should we support this.  Pay a little more to get the quality and satisfaction from buying a product made in America.

I buy T-***** for my company and I buy only made in USA. I also put "MADE IN THE USA" on the front of the shirt below the company logo. I give them away and I sell them cheap - $7.50 for a 100% cotton short sleeve USA shirt and $10 for a long sleeve T-shirt and people love them. I have had people call me to ask where I got them because they want to buy American made for their businesses. I admit they cost more than shirts made in Taiwan or China but it's worth it to me and it makes me look good - and different, A politician was in my office not long ago with a bobble head figure of himself. On the bottom of the box it read "MADE IN CHINA". I pointed it out to him and he looked surprised. Was he really surprised? I can't say but he sure looked a bit shame faced - as he should since he's a representative of the people. I'm sure it was cheaper though and for some that's all they care about.

Yes I believe in buying products labelled "Made in U.S.A." as it benefits all Americans.

The thing is if we were willing to pay the price now and our companies here in the USA were able to start seeing a growth - they wouldn't have to charge as much.  So, the prices would eventually drop.  At least that's my logic anyway!

Yes, I would.  I do look for the Made in the USA label when I shop. I was in the work force when this garbage started. People didn't like it, but continued to buy from companies that participated. Now, the sad fact is people cannot afford to buy the made in China much less the USA.
