There were some in the 80s and 90s also. I saw some on a little girls pig tails not too long ago but they may have belonged to her mom.Or maybe she got them from a small boutique. I did not realize how rare they were or I would have asked her. They are so cute.
This is an old post of mine come alive LOL!
Maybe E-Bay ?

Hi everyone, thanks for your help and memories. I remember them being called woolies. They were sold in sets of different colors usually from the 5 and dime. Yes, every color imaginable and I too had them matched to my outfits. I asked ChitChat about them as I am searching for them for my 2 year old little girls hair.
very glad to see that some remember.
I've searched the net and yarn stores, even called Goody. They said they made them in the 70's early 80's and stopped.
I'll check dollar stores. thanks for the tip about the gift wrapping section.
Do you mean the collectable 60s ones or the ones as the other post said like the Dollar store has?/
I remember these well...............I wore them back in the early 70's! I had every color...black,white,red,pink,yellow,blue,green............even colors like red, white, and blue that was woven together! I wore pony tails alot and also pig tails....so i had one to match all my clothes...............we would also braid the yarn into our hair, looked really cool back then! I agree with Selma...thanks for the trip down memory lane!
Back to your question...............I also seen them at the Dollar store....hair section and also gift wrapping section........I pointed them out to my husband and said..I use to tie them things in my hair!! :) Lol
HI...I saw some in a dollar store...in the hair section....also in the gift wrap......weird how they r still used.
If I can find them next time I am out I will let u know.
Thanks for the trip back in time...lol...
"selma"
wow I made your graph look wonderful! :) I really don't have a clue on this one. LOL Do you have any pictures you can post of what these "woolies" are supposed to look like? I tried a Google Search for the critera you listed, but was unable to pull up anything worthwhile without a picture. There was one that came close, but I'm not sure if it is what you are looking for...I will post it below if you want to take a look. I have a feeling it's just a look-a-like product. Let me know.
