air france flight

so did anyone else read on yahoo about the air france flight wreckage being found? it's sad they can't find bodies or any sign of life. they are now on a fight against time to recover the black box since it only sends out a signal for 30 days....i wonder if they'll be able to find it and figure out what happened. and i wonder if there just might be survivors. somewhere.....in the atlantic.

I was talking to my daughter in the UK and she said it is in the news paperin UK   that it is believed that 2 Islamic terrorists were on board the aircraft.... hasnt been verified yet, they are checking the flight list.could have been suicide bombers, also the french secret service are apparently coming up with  the same..information.

well they recovered 4 more bodies and an undisclosed amount are still in the water that were located shortly ago. they are now officially saying that all passangers are presumed dead and they think the plane broke apart mid air. *sigh* such sadness.

not to get ot...but did anyone hear about the daycare fire in mexico? now that made me cry. those poor babies!

Have just this morning also heard that, I think we all want to hear what caused it if it can be found out I guess they need the Balck box for that, that may be too deep to get at..and yes families need some closure .

i actually read more on the crash today. they found 2 bodies and a brief case that had the ticket with the flight number on it inside. so it must be somewhere close by where they're looking if they're starting to find bodies right? i hope they find it soon and find out what happened. for the sake of those families who have no closer on what happened to their loved ones.

There are significant problems in the Airbus, stemming from fundamental design decisions.

Right now, as for the recent disappearance of an Airbus over the Atlantic, we don't know if this was an act of a terrorist or of catastrophic structural failure.

Let's cut to the chase.

In order to save weight, the Airbus used structural members that were weaker and thinner than in an earlier generation jet, the 747.

They also wanted to reduce fatigue and limited the ability of the aircraft to bank or climb. An Airbus can only make shalloow turns, even in an emergency. The old 707, in contrast, as flown by Tex Johnson, can barrel roll.

The idea was that if you limit the degree of freedom of the controls you would reduce the strength of the frame because the aircraft would not encounter stress that would cause structural failure. That decision led to the tail failure over long Island a few years ago when the pilot used excess rudder sontrol.

Furthermore Airbus decided to "derate" the engines. On an old Boeing you could use full "War Emergency Power" and get substantial increases in thrust. Taint so with the Airbus. You can only get 70% power. This "derating" extends the time between overhauls.

This also means that in the event of a sudden event requiring a shrap evasive maneuver a Boeing can do that. As for the Airbus...it can't get out of it's own way.

As for th Airbus autopilot, if you go to youtube and type in "Airbus Crash" you can watch an actual video of the aircraft refusing to respond to the commands of the pilot. He tries to climb and the autopilot won't release. The video ends with the Airbus crashing into the ground in a flash of flame.

My own opinion is, if it were not for the pressure of the French, the Airbus would not have been certified.

The esteemed industry publication Aviation Week and Space Technology did an extensive series on the so-called "flight envelope restriction system" which prevented to aircraft from maneuvering in order to avoid exceeding the structural capacity of the spars.

Is the Airbus an unsafe Aircraft.

Most airlines don't seem to think so. And now airlines fly both varieties. Airbus Industries gave them finance terms so generous they couldn't refuse.

As for me:

"If it ain't Boeing, I ain't going..."

I heard they think the plane may have broke up while still in the air? I guess because of how far the wreckage was scattered. It may have been a lightening strike or pilot error in stalling out the plane is what I heard. Still, very sad and tragic. I know I've flown many times but I do prefer to drive when I can!

They now are saying that the wreakage they found was not from that flight and that they still haven't found anything at all.  They are still searching now.

Yup it does put one off flying, I believe the plane was scattered for quite a way, not much left of any bodies I would think, I did hear that once they lost cabin pressure it would be only a few mins and they would be unconcious ..poor people.. poor families..

Ah...the flight recorders will not be squished -- if they are found the information can be recovered. Swampy didn't realize that the FDR/CVR equipment is certified for depths of 20,000ft! (That is one incredible bit of engineering by the way)

They have found additional wreckage and they are moving subs in to try and find the recorders. They'll send out pings for a month.

how much of the wreckage have they found? i haven't seen anymore updates on it lately. i was actually talking to my dad and he said he had heard that the plane was struck by lightening while i heard bomb, lightening and possibly turbulance. so who knows. it would suck if they can't find the black box. have they found any of the passangers or crew? it's so awful how these things happen! i will definitely NOT be flying anytime soon. i'm already scared of planes as it is....then to see/hear about this!!!! my but is staying planted on the ground.

Its probably not a bomb -- they can tell that from the type of wreckage discovered.

However, they'll almost certainly never find the flight recorders -- the water is too deep they'll be squished.

I hadn't heard the latest. How sad. I'm with you, Teko. I think I'll stay off planes for awhile. I know they're supposed to be safer than cars and all but boy, when they do crash, it's big.
I know when we were coming back from overseas we hit a thunderstorm and had some pretty rocky turbulence. I was a nervous wreck. The Captain came on and said once we got to a higher altitude we'd be fine but we'd be rocked around for a bit first. It was pretty nervewracking. I never cared for flying but I know sometimes you have to.

I hope they find that black box soon and can try to figure out what happened. What a tragedy. I will have to watch the news tonight. God bless all those lost souls and their families.

Thanks for letting me know about the 30 day thing.  That makes sense!  I hope they find it!  It will tell exactly what happened!

Looks like they found some of the reckage, and are investigating the bomb possibilities.  My heart and prayers go out to the families of those on board...
the signal from the black box only last 30 days, if they discover the box after that time it will still work, but the signal is what they need to find it, that is the 30 day thing.

This morning on the news this morning, I heard that the black box can work indefinitely as long as they can get to it.

I also heard that there had been no distress call and they don't even know if the chief captain was flying at the time.  With that bomb threat it really makes you wonder if that's what happened. Normally when they are in distress the captain calls that in.

Whatever happened, my heart and prayers go out to the families of those who were lost!

Those poor Families am not certain how many Brits I heard there was an American on board, the news is from Saudi Arabia today and some coming from N Korea, he is sending the 2 long range Missiles off today,I think most think Kim Foo Ping  is a buffoon and take it lightly ,I hope they are right, if it was considered serious I doubt the President would leave the country do you.

They said it's as deep as 20-30,000 feet deep.  They were sending in mini-subs for assistance.  This is an awful tragedy.

it is sad. i was reading that a veteran airline captain said that any captain would know not to go full speed through a lightening storm so i wonder if that's what happened or maybe turbulence brought them down.

it is very sad.

so what is it s. korea? is finally shooting off missiles? those people are so whacked out. peace, no peace, you looked at me wrong so i'm sending nukes. i'm so sick of all the fighting. ya know....if women ruled the world it would be all peace. i think it's time we overthrew men. they've had 2009 years to try to get it right...they haven't so far. time for some new leaders!!! ; o)
