birthday party

well my boys are turning 1 in 3 weeks and i'm in the midst of planning their party. silly me waited till the other day to book the pavillion at the park we wanted and OF COURSE they are COMPLETELY booked for aug. 15. *sigh* so i do have a back up plan...my thing is NOW i have to change the party theme. (it was at a farm exhibt park and now it's not so the farm theme is out the door...)

any ides? i had a few..like teddy bear picnic (the song teddy bear picnic is so freakin cute and we are doing a picnic for their party) but other than that i'm lost. i don't want to do the typical disney or nickelodeon themed party. i want something super cute and original party. and not the typical baby's 1st birthday theme either.

ok so i got everything planned. my mom and aunts are helping with food (they make super good food so why not), we're going with a jungle buddies theme and at the local park (it has a wave pool, golf, go carts, bmx tracks, playground at the pavilion and a wild game preserve). i know we're going all out but even though they won't remember it....we will. plus the 70 people who are invited and us will have TONS of pictures for them to look at in the future. (i know 70 people is a lot but i have a HUGE family.)

and also...maybe have 'best costumed bear contest' for the older guests coming? i am sure their creative juices could think of some fantastic costumes and would be fun to see. another idea.... have guests dress bears as themselves or resembling their personalities and other party goers have to guess which bear belongs to who...lol.  like i said, most of all...have fun!

u do realize that at age 1 the party is more for u then them lol. like the others said, save the trama and drama or aka 'party planning' when they are old enough to appreciate and remember it. I think a teddy bear picnic would be define and perfectly age appropriate. so very cute. make sure all the party guests bring their favourite teddy bears along. including the adults! most of all have fun!

If the park has a sand box you could hide some doller store toys in the sand and make it for the little ones oh age 1( a sibling could help) threw age 5,,rules as you deem every one can find either one or two toys.

You and me both! I loathe clowns! Hate hate hate hate hate them! Never figured out why!

Wow big range of ages to entertain! How about you make play dough for the littlies, and the pinata for the older ones? Play dough is easy to make and it is eco -friendly if they make a mess! Littlies love getting their fingers into squishy things.
My daughter when she got older loved the fact she is in her pram, fast asleep with the cake I made specially! It is really funny, poor thing was so excited she konked out!
I remember my last son who is now 15, we had a water pistol party. He was only 2 and loved it! It will be still summer for you guys , so maybe some water pistols for the younger ones to squirt everyone? I am sure they will get a great buzz out of that!
I am sure it will be a great day!

oh NO NO NO clowns!!!! i am absolutely terrified of clowns. hate em. i won't even go to the circus b/c there are clowns!

we're still having it at a park just a different park. the age range of kids that will be there is 1-15. so i wanted to do stuff that everyone would enjoy but it's hard finding something a 1 year old and a 15 year old enjoy. lol. we were thinking about a pinata for the older kids and having toys for the younger ones to play with. we're doing it at a park b/c of the playgrounds they have there and i know all the kids that will be there love slides and swings. i don't want to go overboard BUT it IS their 1st bday and eve if they don't remember....i will. lol. plus there will be tons of pictures for them to look at 50 years down the road.

We did similar to Cherie's idea .. but was Spongebob ... we had all the pieces put in Ziploc bags and then the kids simply glued them onto a big yellow sponge.

We did the bear thing 18.5 yrs ago for my oldest when she had her First B'day and it was fun.

We've also done a frame party where you buy some lucite frames at the dollar store and the kids decorate with stickers and some glue with glitter, etc. depending on their age and you take a pic of them @ the party and then they leave with their own photo in the frame (somebody else prints them during the party) or you send out with the thank you's!

The other idea when they are a bit older is a T Shirt party and you sponge paint and then let them dry on a clothesline.

Having 4 kids and enjoying doing home parties I'm sure the list goes on .

It depends on the ages of those coming to your sons' First B'day.

for the teddy bear theme if you have a craft store nearby you could buy bears, and fluff, have the kids tuff their own and have a few moms to sew the few needed stitches to close them, they are cute and the kids would feel happy to make their own. could get as creative as you wanted, there are lots of add on ideas for those stuffies,

I had a picnic in a public park...all the tables were taken so we just dossed down on the ground with blankets!  MY daughter slept through the whole thing! So don't go too overboard with the themes. Save them till the kiddies are older and will appreciate it. My daughter is now 21 and said she only remembers the Teddy Bear theme we had when she was about 5 years old. She loved it! Believe me the time will slip away before you know it!
Have fun on the day!

we hired a clown one year not tooo expensive it was doable around 150 at the time I believeit was such a hit the kids all got ballown animals and he did silly age appropiate tricks had birthday boy age 3 gp up to the "stage "( concrete on my driveway) did a trick he wrapped plain rope around my sons waist , had him twirl three tomes, siad the majic words unwrapped the rope dramatically and taa daa there was a hude pair of boser shorts hanging, my son and his little friends laughed so hard,,,,at that age nothing is funnier than "potty humor" he remebers it to this day as one of his favorite memories.

Are you having the party at your house instead? You can still have the farm theme party, just get creative with decoration :)
That teddy bear picnic idea is wonderful too!
