I am wondering if anyone knows why my gardenia flowers shrivel up and die instead of opening?

So it's ironic that I reminded you to give yours extra water and then forgot about mine. It's dry and shrivelled up but I think i can save it if i cut back the dead leaves and pay more attention to it. lol

I have these large black bugs with orange stripes. They have a fondness for my Chinese lantern plants.....GGGRRR.They are everywhere. You'd think in Canada-land of snow and cold - the little buggers would freeze. They are some tough bugs. lol
We get lots of earwigs here if it rains too much. I have tons of ants in the gardens. As long as they stay there I'm ok with it. A few weeks ago we had a huge house centipede--Freaky!! they can give you a nasty bite. Google they ,but not before bed,it'll give you nightmares.Shudder.

Yah,

I finally got to spend time in my gardens today. 2 1/2 hours in the sun and the dirt. I started  opening up the flower beds, cleaning out the dead plants and leaves.I only finished 2 beds and left my husband a huge pile of debris to clean up with the tractor and the big rake. I love that man.

I have one in the house as well. I changed it to a larger pot with moisture retaining soil because it kept drying out and would shrivel. It seems to be doing fine now.

Good luck.

They are in the house in the warm sun. Its about 70-80. They dry out very fast! I water daily. Maybe I need more water?
