I had a partial hyster back in Sept - removed uterus, left tube and cervix....kept both ovaries. My hot flashes are/were bad! It's like the inside of my body heats up and I'm on fire! I'm also hypothyroid and I have IC (painful bladder syndrome).
I am already taking med for thyroid and ic, I just didn't want to take anymore meds! I do need to lose some weight too. I found a total body cleansing system with the side benefits of weight loss. I started it a week ago and I must say it's helping. I was very skeptical about it. I'm not one for taking natural products or even prescriptions for that matter. I just knew I needed some help.
I broke down and decided to try and tackle all my problems, so I'm on the 30 day program. One week into it now - My hot flashes are less frequent and less intense, I am actually sleeping at night again...whooo hooo!!!!....I have more energy, I'm not as tired when I get up in the mornings, my bladder trouble seems to be better - I don't have the spasms that I was having, and I've already lost 5 lbs.
In the past, exercising has been a challenge....due to the painful bladder. But in the last week I have managed to do the 1 mile Walk Away The Pounds -3 times- and I even rode our riding lawn mower!
I know this system/products isn't for everyone, but it is helping me.
the doc told me to take an Ativan last night. It worked! I slept through the night and never noticed that I was hot. I am hot this morning htough! But I woke up more positiver. I wonder if I can take an Ativan every night? Probably not, I think they're habit forming.
HI, Hun,
I didn't want to bother the ladies over at ovca with my silly hot flashes. I have to go it without hormones. I have a past history of blood clots. Actually, I'm doing pretty good. I'm a little worried about the summer heat, though. But no telling, here in Michigan, it may never get to the point of actual "heat". My main worry is that I go back to work in a few days and I work in a small area and may have to freeze the other girls out with the air conditioner from time to time (they're expecting it). I keep my eyes "peeled" for any info on the ovca that I see about hot flashes, but don't think I'd ever bring it up. Thanks, Marty for the info...I may contact Leslee and get her strategies.
Hugs,
Shari
Hun, you are missing all the good advice for menopause from your friends on the OVCA forum, most have been there and done that. Mary53 is the expert on Bio's. Leslee just went cold turkey and toughed it out. She has about 1 hot flash a week now, almost 2 years post op. Marty
AAAAAAAH, Did you say ELIMINATE coffee? I can do ANYTHING, but that. You are so right ,though. I keep a towel with some ice in it while I drink my coffee. It's amazing what I'll do to not give up my addiction!!!! Good Luck, All
Hugs,
Shari
I agree with marshmallow. Walking and light exercise helps with the flashes tremendously, along with lots of water and eliminating caffeine.

Hi
I have similar hot flashes and am hypothyroid. I joined a health club and started walking on the treadmill. After 2 weeks of walking 45 minutes five days a week, my hot flashes/night sweats are gone. You might try this.
Hi,
You are doing all you can. Dress in layers so you can remove and put them on as needed. I'm dealing with the sweats and flashes, too, and just do the layers thing. Good luck!!!!
