Diagnosis - Menopause (and Reverse T3)

I went through the saliva hormonal testing and found out that I am in menopause ....... being estrogen dominant. I am taking prometrium, 200 mg at night. My night sweats are gone - but I still don't feel energized.

My T3, Reverse levels are at 36 -- a little high with normal being 11-32 ng/dL. No meds were given to me on this.

Do I need to be on meds to keep this stablized? And I need someone to explain the Reverse T3 to me.
Thanks

I was put on Liothyronine (generic to cytomel) a week ago and starting off at 12.5 mg at this time. I had a surge of energy for the first 2-3 days ........now I am feeling like I was beforehand. I'm suppose to be taking this dosage for 2 weeks, but I'm going to call the doctor's office to see if I can go ahead and take the 25 mg.

Has anyone had experience with these meds .... wondering if there is any difference between the cytomel and the generic Liothyronine?

Sounds like you may need a little thyroid med to keep you going and get rid of the tiredness.  However, some docs won't treat this until it's at a certain level.

Have you been seeing an endocrinologist?  If not, I'd highly suggest that you seek one out or ask to be referred to one as they can discuss this with you in more detail and will more likely treat than a family or general physician.
