High FSH Hormone (139) and menopause

Hello, I am 49 and am very active---run, lift weights, ride bike, yoga every day.  I have always been active and eat healthy.  I went to the doctor for dizziness, headaches, weakness, nausea, hot flashes.  He did blood work and found all my other levels normal except my FSH.  He said it is just menopause and to exercise.  I had a hysterectomy 10 years ago due to polps and have cysts on my ovaries now.  What else if anything can I do to feel better?  Thank you

I have been in full menopause for two years now (no periods and all the nasty symptoms) and I'm 46. I run 75 miles a week and cycle at least that many and it doesn't help my symptoms at all - not to be negative, but every woman is 1000% different than the other, so what works for one may not work for the other so its an utter **** shoot, really. That said, what makes me feel somewhat better (although I have accepted feeling bad most days is how this is going to be for however long my menopause takes) is this;

400mg B6
500mg B12
800mg Vit E
2000mg Vit D
1500mg Calcium
1000 Magnesium
500mg Black Cohosh
400mg Folic Acid
1000mg Evening Primrose Oil
500mg Grape Seed Extract (antidioxidant)

I do this daily, plus eat tofu daily, drink soy milk, eat flax seed on everything... and some of the flashes and that crushing fatique, nausea, headaches lessen a bit. Its sounds to me that you are really estrogen deficient (like I am) and unless you want to mess with your body and take dangerous HRT this is the way to go. Some women opt for antidepressants but I refuse to go that route.

I still suffer (and it is suffering after months and months) with insomnia, but I've been on low dose Xanax and sleep meds which now I have to go through the hideous process of weaning off because they're just too addicting.

Good luck - you will get through this, at least that's what I hope for!

What other blood tests were run?  Are you on any medication?  You should not be getting dizziness, headaches, and nausea in my opinion from a hysterectomy (I've had one myself).  My migraines actually grew less in number and often in severity as well after mine.
