Postmenapausal bleeding and ovarian fibroids

Hi...today the spotting appears and figures, I am scheduled to have a second transvaginal ultrasound on my right ovary on Wednesday morning.  2 months ago, my gynocologist felt a lump around the area of the left ovary while doing the internal exam.  He had a transvaginal ultrasound done and saw a fibroid tumor as well as "strange" cystic structures inside of the ovary.  Now I am scheduled to have a second done, and I starting staining...not a period, but spotting or staining. I have not had a period for 1 whole year.   I am also suddenly very uncomfortable down there...a dry and itchy feeling, which coincided with the spotting.  At the present time, I also have a biopsy planned for calcifications in my right breast for the 11th of this month.  I am wondering if these occurences might be connected somehow, and also...should I still have the ultrasound this week with the slight bleeding, or would I have to postpone it.  I am anxious to have this test to put my fears at rest.  Any advice?

I forgot to mention, my GYN said in addition to the cyst, my ovary is enlarged and there is fluid in the fallopian tube. I did not have my wits about me and neglected to ask all the appropriated quesitons such as why ..... but in retospect she probably doesn't know the answers. Oh well.... I wanted to know if your doctor mentioned similar symptoms...

Let me know how your GYN appt goes today. My breast doctor is taking a conservative approach and decided not to biopsy. I am sorry you are having insurance problems. Seems like everytime I go to the doctor I am holding my breath and hoping the insurance doesn't reject the claim. The insurance companies have us over a barrel.

The pain I have is constant. My doctor did not give me anything. I have 16 more days to go. If my OBGYN does nothing I will need to get a second opinion. I can't live like this forever. I may seek another opinion regardless.

Let me know what happens today......

Thank you for responding.....it is hard waiting for appointments to check both of these issues out, so I keep reading and reading into things.  I am scheduled to have the cysts checked out again on Wed, and trying to have a biopsy on the breast next Wed. (insurance problems getting in the way).  I had back surgery last October which should have been diagnosed right away and been operated on, but the wait and watch approach really got in my way....went through about of year of pain that could have been easily avoided.  Pain management is tough...somethings work and somethings don't.  I hated to be on strong pain meds because they are so addictive, and aren't all they are cracked up to be, but you do what you have to to be able to function.  I thought I was post menopausal but after one year I started bleeding...figures, right before my ultrasound....frustrating!!!  Good luck to you, and let me know how you are doing too!

I do not have any advice. All I can tell you is your not alone. I am scheduled for my second ultasound in 2 weeks. I too have had fibroids most of my life, The good news is they shrink after menopause. I have pelvic and cronic lower back pain. The doctor found a cyst on my ovary. She is taking a "watchful waiting" approach which I think is the normal course of action. If the cyst continues to grow or causes pain I think the doctor will recommend surgery. I have breast cysts in both breast. They are watching a complex cyst in my left breast. I don't know if the situation is related. I am uncomfortable constantly looking for pain relief. Let me know how you are doing.
