Understanding Tests for Hirsutism and results for DHEAS etc

Hello

I am 44 and early this year I have had a test for Hirsutism as I have developed hair on my chin.
I note that from mid last year, suddenly I have gone through:

1. High heat in the body like fire turning to ashes on spongious body, body and face during the day were ballooning and red round face, followed by 3 days of extreme fatigue.

2. Very quickly I put on weight, weird as it was the time I started to go to the gym and run. I stopped due to the increase weight/fat and peripheral pain, mainly on feet.

3.  Within 6 months I went from 46 kilos to 52 kilos, mainly on thighs and bum. I am 1.52 cms only.
    Hospital said: constipation. Stupid

4. Back in Sydney I have had some test due to the hair on chin: apparently no Hirsutims. I come from a family (overseas and no contact or deceased) with Thyroid issues.

5. I do not understand the rest of the test, and would appreciate some help. I note that a diabetes test came negative.

6. What means in my result, as my female GP has not time to help....:
     Basal 17 - OH Progesterone     12.6 nmol/L
     Testosterone                            0.3 nmol/L
     Free Androgen Index                 0.3%             (0.4   - 6.0)
     DHEAS                                    1.8 umol/L     (2.0  - 11.0)

    Mild Neutropenia

I have the feeling I should know better than I do not have hirsutism.

I have night sweat, almost every night, sore muscles/joints as well, so early menopause, I assume. Periods are ok.

Thank you very much for helping me understanding these results, if they also results in the sudden gain of weight that I cannot lose any longer and what alternative treatment you may recommend

Hello

Thank you for your feedback.
I have moved back to Sydney, my ex doc is now retired. This one used to work with him, but God, she drains your energy down, making sure that she takes you no more than 15mns.

Apparently, all is ok with the result, and thyroid too despite that she wrote somewhere Thyroid disorder (may be because of what I told her my family has issue with it).
For the hair on chin: she said, it happens with age, use laser or continue picking  them out as they come.....

I am going back to her to try to get a referral with an endocrinologist, hopefully not in 1 year (I have an appt with a rhumato. in 1 year!), and then look for another GP.
Indeed I am not happy either.

But in the meantime, is there anybody who can explain the above?

Thank you very much

Lucy, I wish that I had the answers to this one for you.

I'm a little bit in wonderment how your doc can be "too busy to interpret" these results for you???  I'm also wondering why they are not looking into your thyroid as being a possible cause for your symptoms since you have a family history of thyroid problems???  Thyroid problems can certainly upset a lot of things and cause a lot of really crazy symptoms, including the facial hair growth.  Have they not checked your thyroid levels???

Please fill us in on that as I'm failing to understand how a doctor can do tests and be too busy to explain the results to you...even by phone???  If that is the case, I'd say that perhaps, you may want to consider seeking out another doc!
