thickening of uterus wall

I had a pelvic ultrasound and was found to be abnormal, it measured 23mm thick made appt with obgyn. I'm worried about cancer as my sister had it before. I am 53 years of age and have heavy bleeding all the time. Should I have much to worry about?

Not sure what happened.

I wanted to write uterine lining grows.
There's no cure for Adenomyosis. A hysterectomy is the only way to get rid of it. Adeno can be in the uterus and cervix.

You might have Adenomyosis. The uterine li i.e. Grows and thickens trapping blood between the layers and can cause heavy and irregularities in bleeding.

Any update? Being that you are 53 and perimenopausal, it is not unusual for the lining to get thick since we make less progesterone / don't ovulate regularly during this time frame. Thankfully, the lining is usually eventually shed before anything "sinister" happens. But when there is concern an endometrial biopsy is typically done. I hope yours is nothing serious!
