25 year old male gynecomastia and erectile dysfunction
This whole thing started when I thought I was having a heart attack. I went to the doctor and then all of this started. I am a 25 year old male 280lbs and I used to smoke cigarettes and marijuana. I started having erection problems about 4 years ago. It was once in a while not all the time. Now it is still the same situation. I can masturbate with no problem I get erections when I am asleep I dont know how often but my girlfriend and i checked a couple of times I get morning wood sometimes but not always like before. I take viagra sometimes. I had and ekg and I took a basic blood test to check for diabetes, heart, thyroid and kidneys. Everything was good except my bad cholestorol was a little high. Since then I quit smoking completely and lost a little weight my blood pressure also improved and also my erections alittle. I have been recently been diagnosed with an enlarged breast bud or possible gynecomastia pending a hormone test that is only on the left side. I took a blood test and I am waiting for the results. It is testing my random testosterone, cortisol, estradiol, dhea levels and my hepatic profile. I have no problems with my testicles no lump, pain, swelling, heavy feeling nothing, except above my left testicle the vein is more pronounced.Kind of feels like a "bag of worms". My penis is at least average size and my testicles are also at least average size and normal equal consistency. My pubic hair is full and has not decreased at all. I am not infertile as I have gotten my girlfriend pregnant twice. I have male pattern baldness that started when I was about 23 and have alot of body and facial hair. My uncle had thyroid problems when he was younger. Recently my thyroid gland in my neck was alittle swollen (not visibly noticable) feels abit weird when I swallow and I have back and neck pain. I don't have any vision problems or headaches, but I feel weird like I'm lost or something. I catch myself staring into nothing alot. I have a sedentary job using computers. I have no signs or symptoms suggesting cancer or anything else that is major.
My question is this what is causing these symptoms?
Could they just be because I used smoke and I am overweight?
I read because I also have had problems with ed there could be an underlying problem related to the gynecomastia
What is the worst case scenario if my hormones are messed up?
If my hormones are messed up is it possible to cure or does it usually become a lifetime fix?
Can my ed be fixed?

We have got some good questions here, but I cannot answer them responsibly. Regarding your first question (rotating pain), I am inclined to believe that this is possible. You have to look at these organs as a unique entity because of function, nature and proximity.
For gynecomastia I think not, since varicocele has nothing to do with hormone production. However, it can affect testicular size (atrophy) and fertility, but if I undertstand well this is not the case with you. Regarding ED, although it is not listed in the common symptoms, anyone would think that if it hurts down there you can expect some kind of temporary loss of potency.
OK, so wait for the test results first and if everything is OK (and I wish it), then you can talk to your doctor about the possibility of varicocele. Also, there is a chance to not be able to identify a cause for testicular pain. In some cases it can go as it came.

Not yet I didn't notice until after I started researching all the possibilities and then started to check my testicles. I am also scared to tell him. I want to see my hormone test first. I know it sound kind of weird.

Thanks for your reply. If the tumor is the type that secretes hcg (Human chorionic gonadotropin) or if it is a estrogen secreting tumor it can cause breast growth in males or gynecomastia. There are many other causes, but even as my surgeon told me this could be one. Unlikely but "better safe than sorry". The fact though that my gynecomastia is unilateral is a good thing from what I have read it points to drug induced or idiopathic causes. Occasional erectile dysfunction episodes have now become a real concern to me as I wonder if it is a hormonal imbalance related to "my biggest fear".
As for palpable lumps, hardenings or ridges I have none on the testicles. Above the left testicle I feel veins and a cyst feeling thing not attatched to the testicle but the connecting vein. I know it is fluid filled and not a tumor. It is very soft and movable.
The pain is usually dull it happens in both testicles, but usually one at a time. It is sometimes accompanied by stomach pain that feels like bad gas. My testicles didn't really hurt until after my appointment when my doctor told me it is a small possibility. Also six months ago I was jumped by four guys I caught trying to rob my car. I had some back pain and also a shoulder problem. I didn't have insurance and I never got it checked. I also work on computers and sit on my a$$ most of the day.
The pain is not so unbearable it is just uncomfortable and combined with the thought that it could be cancer causing it it becomes much harder to deal with.
I get the results of my hormone test in about a week and a half. I am hoping there are no signs pointing toward tc, if there are my surgeon is probably gonna do an ultrasound.

John, as far as I can tell, gynecomastia is not the first sign of testicular cancer. And I have yet to learn about some case of TC with gynecomastia identified as a symptom of the condition.
This tumor development can be painless in the beginning but it is often accompanied with some pain. The really alarming sign is not the apparition of testicular pain (there are other causes too for that one, even not apparent cause at all), but palpable change of the testicle structure (lumps, hardening, ridges). I hope this is not the case for you.
If you have persistent pain, you have to see a doctor, just to exclude the worst case scenario and retain peace of mind. Pain is a body sign that should never be neglected.

I have recently been experiencing pain in my testicles. I am scared of testicular cancer. I have read that it usually isn't painful, but also that gynecomastia could be the first sign of tc. I have no other symptoms or any risk factors except for my age. Any thoughts please help.
Yes, since you smoke and you are overweight you are in high risk for ED (among other much more serious conditions). But gynecomastia may indicate a hormonal disorder, so you have to wait and see the results. In some cases no apparent cause can be identified.
