Coughing for about 3 weeks now

I noticed that this cough has been with me ever since it first started beginning of November. No matter how much cough drops, Mucinex DM or Tessalon perles it just won't go away. btw Mucinex and Te Tessalon was kinda expired as well by a year. Anyways anyone have any ideas? Couldn't find a coughing forum. I'm 24 male btw.

Sounds like there was a bacterial infection after all.  The sinus congestion can cause headaches, and the lymph nodes were fighting the infection.  Itching like crazy is another symptom that your body is fighting an infection.

Glad that the doctor gave you something and you should start to feel better in a few days time.

Still do steam inhalations - these will help to loosen the congestion in your sinuses.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.

That's good, it seems to be clearing up.

It can takes ages for the mucus to clear up.  You will probably find it is much worse in the mornings due to post nasal drip.

Keep up with your warm drinks and leave off milk and cheese until you are better as these encourage mucus production.  It is always bad this time of the year with all sorts of bugs about.

Best wishes.

The doctor should still examine your throat and lungs.  Do tell him of your green mucus, albeit there is not a lot coming up now.

Keep warm and cover your nose and mouth with a scarf when you are out in the cold.  Steam inhalations help to loosen up and shift the mucus.

In a bowl pour in a kettle full of boiled hot water with a little of Vick or Olbas oil.  Take care not to get scalded.  Bend your head over the bowl and cover your head and bowl with a towel.  Inhale the steam through your nose.  My doctor told me to do this 4 times a day for a duration of 10 minutes each time.

If you have high blood pressure it is not advisable to take decongestant medication like Sudafed because it does raise the blood pressure.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Thank you for your quick response. I know it's not bacterial because I'm not coughing up a lot d green mucus or have that drowning feeling in my lungs. I think it's just my Annual Bronchitis kicking in it has always started during late fall early winter.  But I am going to be setting a doctor appointment  so I can get more of those Tessalon pearls.

As you have had the persistent cough now for 3 weeks or so, I suggest you make an appointment to see your doctor to examine your throat and lungs and do a lung function test.  If the doctor feels your cough is as a result of a bacterial infection, he will prescribe an antibiotic for you.

Having a cough is the body's natural way of trying to get rid of an irritant, whether this is a virus or a bacterial, dust particles, irritation by smoke and fumes etc.

Drink warm honey and lemon drinks or your preferred warm juice.  Avoid dairy produce whilst you are having this cough.  Milk products do encourage the formation of phlegm and catarrh.

If you have congestion, steam inhalations will help.
