Numbness on the front part of the thigh (not the sides) and down as far as just above the knee on BOTH LEGS. like a shot of novacaine in both legs....no sensation for the last couple of days. both started together and both are still the same

  This is obviously nerve problem. Since it is affecting both legs, it is very important that you consult a neurologist immediately, as there can be many possible causes for this symptom. The following link will give you more details:
