Low libido, depression and weight gain

I'm a 28 year old male. I have been tested on multiple occasions for low testosterone. My results come back low, but still within limits at 300-400.

The problem is, I don't have much of a sex drive. I've always had trouble keeping weight off and I'm constantly tired. I've also been diagnosed with depression and I am on medication for it. I've requested consults with nephrologists and endocrinologists but have been turned down as my levels are still "normal".

I don't feel normal. My levels have been low since I was 22, and haven't gotten any better as I've aged. How can I get professional help? I want to see a doctor and get a workup but I am often written off.

Has anyone tested your thyroid?

That's an often overlooked thing to test, and it could be causing a lot of your symptoms. It can be just as hard to get the correct testing for that, though, too.

The testing you need is:

TSH
Free T4
Free T3
Thyroidglobulin Antibodies (TgAb) and Thyroid Peroxidase Antibody (TPOab)

Many doctors will start by doing a TSH test. If that's all your doctor will do, then start there.

Your T levels are low, so have they done any other testing? Free testosterone? Bioavailable T?

I'm sorry you haven't been able to see an endo - it sounds like that would be a great place for you to start.
