Painful red bumps on tip of penis

Yesterday I went swimming in the ocean, and lounged on the beach for much of the day.
I was wearing a mesh lined bathing suit.
That evening, I noticed red bumps on the tip of my penis, that are painful and tender to the touch.

I’m in a monogamous relationship. My partner (also male), has some bumps too, just less severe.

What could this possibly be?

It could be a few different things, from a reaction to a parasite in the water or sand, a reaction to something in your hotel if you're on vacation - things like that.

I doubt this is an STD that you both are suddenly getting symptoms of. Even if this were herpes or syphilis, you and your partner wouldn't likely get the same symptoms in the exact same spots at the exact same time.

Is there an urgent care near you where you can go? They may be able to help identify it if it's something local to the area you're in.
