Problems with private area.

I am a 13 year old male and live a farly healthy life. About 1 year ago my penis started itching. Its at the point now where I have a rash on my left leg next to my penish that is qwite large, Im getting areas of dry skin that peels and dry skin near the head of my penis. My penis seems to rash all over. Ive tried lotion but it dosent work, and Ive tried leaving it alone but the red rash stays there and keeps itiching. Im also scared to ask my parents because they might think its an STD, and I cant drive to a doctor.

Sounds like a fungal infection commonly known as jock itch - but get it checked out just to be sure. If that's what it is, your doctor will likely prescribe some sort of antifungal ointment or powder to be used for a few weeks or so.

Whatever the condition, don't be embarrassed about telling your parents. They care about your health.

Hi,
It is mostly a common fungal infection and you should not delay the treatment. You should definitely consult a doctor and get it treated. Do not worry about telling your your parents, as they would be aware of such problems.

You don't have to tell them explicitly what it is, just say you need to see a doctor.  If they press you, say it is embarrassing.  They might ask you if you have been having sex, tell them truthfully it's not that, but just that you'd rather describe your symptoms to a doctor than to them.  Most parents would not put a kid through a third degree if the kid is embarrassed.
