Shrinking Penis

I have posted here before, but I feel that I must be persistent.  I am 29 years old, and have been impotent for about 2 years now.  2 years ago, I was absolutely fine.  I could have sex as many times as I wanted to.  3 times a night would be no problem.  I woke up with erections, and if I didn't have sex I would masturbate in the morning and before I went to bed.

It is a different story now however.  No morning wood.  No libido.  If I am able to get an erection it doesn't last long.  Visual stimuli has no effect, I have to use my hand and that doesn't work very well.  When flacid, my penis is smaller now.  The skin feels different--less sensitive.  I see veins where I couldn't see any before.  When I walk around, it feels like I don't even have a penis anymore.  It feels like nothing is there.  As a result of this I have lost my girlfriend, my confidence in life, and I think I am losing my mind.  Oral drugs don't help.

I've been to urologists at an ivy leage teaching hospital. He basically said 'that's life' and showed me penis pumps.  I really don't know why I am typing this message, as I don't think there is anything anyone can really do.  I am beyond the point of losing hope.  I quite honestly do not want to live like this anymore.

My only questions are:
a.  Why & how did this happen?
b.  Is there any way to fix it?

If you know a doctor, please forward this to him/her because I really need help.  Thank you.

I did the test to measure my temprature each morning, but it was inconclusive.  Will lok more into the hypothyroidism angle.  Doctors may dismiss you, or more likely they'll be confused, do a few tests and offer no solutions.  There will be a doctor out there who can get to the bottom of this, it's just a matter of finding him/her.

This is what I'm worried about that they are simply going to dismiss it again and say that things are normal. What is 'normal' for them doesn't mean its normal for you. You know your own body and it is clearly trying to tell you something.

I know you've been following this for a long time - maybe I am just being naive thinking that the doctors are going to listen to me and be able to find some cure.

Have you been down the route that it might be hypothyroidism?

The doctors say they couldn't find anything wrong with the tissue, and that the changes in size were within the normal variation due to temprature, hormone levels etc so to them that didn't prove anything.

My changes are all in girth.  It's been happening, very slowly, for years, ever since I started puberty basically.

I've often thought that abstaining would help, but the problem actually seems worse when I havent ben masturbating/having sex.

Hey.

Started about 4 months ago. Noticed some shrinkage, some length but mostly girth when flaccid and erect. Lack of morning wood. Had 2 occasions of ED couple of months ago but this hasn't happened since. Have weaker erections than before.

Strangely though my penis has returned to normal size on 3 occasions, maybe due to abstaining from sex/masturbation? not sure.

If its of interest I have high cholesterol - which came as a surprise to me as I eat pretty well. Have hard to shift abdominal fat too.

How can they diagnose you with penile dismorphaphobia when something has physically changed?

Hey man,

I think this thread died a bit because people were just getting frustrated talking about the problem and not getting any closer to finding any answers.  I still check in here from time to time, but I'm getting more and more pessimistic about ever finding a cure.

Following almost two years of appointments at what is upposedly the best urology clinic in the country, the doctors still couldn't find a reason why this is happening and have referred me to a psychologist after a preliminary diagnosis of penle dismorphaphobia.

Tell me more about your problem - when it started, how bad it is etc.

Also what I was wondering was if Hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid) had been ruled out as a cause for this?

Cheers guys.
