Sore throat and nasal congestion after oral sex.

I've been having this frustrating problem for years now, and haven't been able to figure out what is going on.

Sometimes after performing oral sex (on a male).  I end up with a sore throat for a few days, often accompanied with occasional difficulty swallowing (like a swollen throat), trouble breathing (not sure if chest congestion or because of a swollen throat) and nasal congestion.  This has happened whether it's with a regular partner or if it's just a one-time hook up with someone.  It seems more likely to happen after aggressive sex, but it happens plenty of times without the sex being aggressive.

Because I know everyone will want to jump to "It's an STI," I want to point out that I am on PrEP, and as part of that, I get a full STI panel every three months.  This includes both blood and urine tests, as well as both throat and rectal swabs.  All of these tests are consistently negative.  So it's not gonorrhea, or syphilis, or chlamydia, Herpes.

Because it is more likely to happen after rougher sex, I was thinking there might be some kind of abrasion going on, but while that would explain the sore throat, and possibly the symptoms that would indicate a swollen throat, it doesn't explain the nasal congestion. And then it also doesn't always happen after rough sex, and it does happen sometimes after non-rough sex.

Could this be some sort of allergy-related thing?  I'm on claritin daily because of my regular allergies, so I would think I would be protected from an allergy-related issue.

Could this be some sort of yeast/fungal related thing?

Since I know that I'm going to get at least someone telling me "you should talk to your doctor."  I have mentioned it, but he didn't really have any ideas. I am never experiencing the symptoms when I see him for my appointments every three months, and in the time between when I call for an appointment and when I actually see the doctor, the symptoms have gone away.  It's really frustrating.

OK, so the difficulty breathing turns out isn't just from a swollen throat. Today chest congestion is breaking up, so that's where the difficulty breathing must be coming from
