What could be causing my utheritis symptoms?

I am a 30 year old male in very good health. A little over three months ago I had unprotected sex with my girlfriend. This was the first time that I have ever had unprotected sex. She moved back abroad and since then I have not had sex at all. Two months after she left I started noticing my penis head as well as the opening of my urethra getting a little red and inflamed. I had a slight burning sensation and some pain once and a while. No burning when urinating, but rather relief from the burning. I also started suffering from lower abdominal pain.

I went to the doctor and he did a urine test. Everything was fine. He told me that if I had discharge then it might be an sti, but I had no discharge at all. He put me on Ciprofloxacin for a week. After a week the symptoms didn't clear up so I went back and this time he gave me Fluconazole, Azithrom and he gave me a Nystacid ointment. I also went for a test for Gonorrhea that came back negative. After that the conditions still didn't improve.

I then went to a Urologist and he diagnosed chronic prostatitis and gave me 6 weeks of Purbac. 2 Weeks later I went back, because my symptoms got worse. I started experiencing constant burning and pain on the tip of my penis and worse abdominal pain so I got sent for a CT scan of my abdomen and pelvic area. The test said there was nothing wrong with me. The urologist also told me to stop the Purbac if it still hadn't brought some relief.

Then I had a semen and urine culture done as well as a full blood count that all came back normal. The urologist said that he doubts it is prostatitis and that the next step will be to have a cystoscopy. He also thinks that my abdominal pain has nothing to do with the utheritis symptoms I am showing.

I am experiencing a lot of pain from the head of my penis. I still have a red and inflamed opening of the penis and the head of the penis covered by the foreskin is also red. A slight burning sensation when urinating.

I have been tested for HIV, Gonorrhea and Clamidiya and all the tests came back negative.

Would a cystoscopy be able to tell what exactly is going on?

Could I be suffering from an Std?

Would an Std take two months to start showing symptoms?

The pain on the tip of my penis is constant throughout the whole day and is killing me.

Thanks in advance

Regards

Kyle I have been through nearly your exact symptoms and been on so many antibiotics sInce Nov.changing symptoms few weeks the tip of my penis was so sore I could barely concentrate at work. I am no doctor but I think you may have prostititis . Mine started with a UTI which was hell,  that it took six urine tests to find. Due to that time I think it found its way to my prostate and now it's tricky to shift. Personally just finished four week course of Septrin nothing happened for three weeks and then started clearing on forth. Trouble is now finished and it's back not as bad but back ache and pain in base of penis and discomfort in urethra. Don't believe the doctor if they do a physical prostate exam and tell you it's fine because it doesn't have to be swollen to be infected.  Having read up a lot if it is prostatitis then antibiotics need to be taken for six to twelve weeks and I know some people won't like taking them for that long if it's like mine you would try anything !! Good luck

Thanks for your feedback. What was strange was the fact that after two weeks of no change (I would say conditions worsened) the Urologist told me to stop the Burpac Antibiotics. He then sent me for a CT scan. Two days later he sent me for a semen and urine culture and then he told me to continue the the antibiotics. From what I understand the culture is used to determine which antibiotics is effective against the infection. Those results came back and then the urologist said that it is definitely not prostatitis.

But thanks for sharing your experience. I will continue and finish the antibiotics and give feedback on my progress. I might even in the mean time have the cystoscopy done and see if that gives any insight to the problem.

Good luck to you too
Any joy pal?
