prostate problem

hi i am a 23 year old with the following urinary symptoms;

slowness and difficulty in starting to urinate (hesitancy),
dribbling or a poor urine stream,
sudden strong desire to urinate (urgency),
a feeling of incomplete emptying owing to residual urine in the bladder,
inability to empty the bladder (acute or chronic urinary retention),
excessive number of visits to the toilet (frequency), and
getting up at night to urinate (nocturia).

My doctor says that young men categorically never get prostate cancer and is investigating the possibility of prostitis. However to be honest i dont like, nor trust my doctor, who has fobbed me off before for a different condition that i turned out to have. What i want to know is is it possible for a man of my age to get cancer of the prostate and should i seek a second opinion?

Thanks,

Matthew Preston,

I am a 26 year old male who has had the same symptoms as you for the last year and a half.  It started with some pain in my prostate.  I went to the doctors and they gave me an ultrasound, which showed calcium stones in my prostate (turned out to be nothing, well that's what they said).  About a month after that i started having pain urinating and pain in my prostate.  it then turned into the feeling of having to go all the time.  It doesnt hurt nor do i never not make it, however it is annoying and prevents me from sleeping   I was referred to a urologist and was put on pyridium, then cipro, then vesicare after he labeled it as prostaitis.  He figures he'll just keep trying meds to one works, yeah that's what i want to hear.  It went away for about 2 months and it's been off and on since then.  the vesicare seems to work to stop the feeling of going but i am sure it is a temporary solution. I do drink a lot of alcohol, have high stress in my job and do perks here and there.  That might be a reason for it.  I am like you and would give anything to get this to go away.  Are there any remedies that work for you, such as magnesium or zinc tabs?

I've had similar problem for about six or seven years, only really bad irritation which I've now got under control, give or take ... I don't know the cause but I do know, through trial and error, that sex (though, more so, masturbation) and, worse, alcohol (esp. wine/spirits) make it flare up.  Obviously, don't give up on sex, but go easy on masturbation and liquor and I think it might improve.

p.s. I've seen a few similar stories on the web over the years ... I think this does affect some men

I have been suffering with what I believe to be prostate discomfort for twenty years. It is on and off. Some days are good, and I have gone as long as a month or two feeling normal, but then I feel it coming on and I will be a mess for five days, and then I'll be fine again for a week, and so on. It seems I was cruising along fine for the past couple years, with incidences here and there but seemed to be getting better. Now recently I am a mess again, feeling bad down there for several days, ok for a couple, then bad again  and so forth. Like I said, this has been going on for over twenty years. Started when I was around 27 and now I am 49.
I have been to several urologists and was given anti-biotics which solved nothing. One doctor diagnosed it as prostatis, but I am not convinced it is that, as I have none of the symptoms, such as trouble urinating, burning when urinating or back pain. Only the feeling of needing to urinate, and it is never a urgency where I feel I will wet my pants if I don't get to a bathroom, but a mild and annoying discomfort. I am fine physically..all my discomfort is focused on what I beleive is an inflamed or irritated prostate. The last urologist I saw diagnosed it as inflamed, whatever that means or what the cause is was not discussed. The feeling I get is like a tickling and mild burning combined. It is not painful, just very annoying and uncomfortable.
It affects me as much mentally as physically. I will go pee even though I know my bladder is no where near full just to take the little bit of pressure off. After I pee I am ok but then shortly after the discomfort comes on again.
I would give anything to knock this out of me. I also am suspect as to whether I could have caused damage myself. When I was in my mid tenties I would masterbate often in bed at night to relax myself. It would help me fall to sleep and I kind of got in the habit. Hoever, I would not ejaculate, as I did not wish to drain my energy as my work tended to be physical.
Of course sometimes I would, (and what a liar I would be to say I didn't!) but many times I would hold it in. So I would masterbate up to the point of almost ejaculating then stop. Could this have caused trauma on my prostate..? Or do I have a nasty bacterial infection that just won't go away? Please, I feel very alone here as every urologist I have seen doesn't seem to have answers or is less than concened.
Is there a draining procedure? Is there anything new that could cure this? It has been several years since my last visit to a urologist as I have given up hope. I have drowned myself in anti-biotics!! I highly anticipate your cosultation, thank you!!
P.S I may also add that I have had several rectal prostate exams, and my prostate was not enlarged. Also, had a PSA test a few years back and a-ok. And this test was after almost twenty years of these symptoms.

Men in today's society care more about virility, sexuality, and performance on all levels. Men are looking for products that enhance their lives in everything they do, products that increase energy, strength, endurance, stamina, and sexual function. A satisfying sex life requires sufficient male hormones and a healthy body. Because a man's hormonal glands have certain nutritional needs, herbal stimulants was developed to satisfy these important needs. L Arginine amino acid have shown in studies to work for male hormonal needs. More affection, romance, excitement, energy and pleasure. L Arginine also supports Prostate Health.

Hey I was just over at the STD forum, and found out a little info.  Male UTI is very rare...but it could be something called urethritis.  You should check out that site over there, and do a search for urinary tract infection...and see what he has to say about it.  I can't remember the number he gave, but UTI in males is very rare.

Yes, I agree.  You need to see a urologist...sounds like it could easily be bladder/urinary tract, etc.

he didnt diagnose you with anything, just said you dont have cancer because of your age? what kind of dr is that and why did you settle for that? go to a different dr and find out what it is.. maybe its something so simple. but if he did suggest that your age group's cancer rate is very low, take that as a positive note but still search to find out what the problem is and get diagnosed by a dr.
