worried about some blood in rectum

I do not have blood in the faeces at all. But sometimes when I wipe this area afterwards there is blood but I have to stress that this is not often. I think there may be a sore there which has not healed because it is painful but not too painful obviously, to excrete.. etc.

I am just writing to ask if it is regular to have such a sore or could it be more serious? Of course I'm not sure that it's just a sore but as said the blood is not regular and it is also not pouring blood -it is just blood when you wipe e.g any sore on a finger/hand but I've heard that blood in this area.

Just interested in your opinion.
Thanks

most likely small external hemorrhoid or fissure...  They can be annoying but are not cause for alarm.  I would say it is probably not worth worrying about too much unless it becomes enlarged and painful or if you notice blood in the stool or excessive bleeding.  If you are concerned that you might have gastric bleeding, indicating a potentially more serious condition, you can get some flushable tissues that check for that kind of blood (you cannot always see blood in the stool just by looking).  If you are concerned, go to your local drug store and look for something called EZ Detect.  That should ease your concerns, but if you are still worried, don't hesitate to talk to a doctor about it.  Your health is way more important than a little embarrassment at the doctor's office, and they deal with that kind of stuff all the time.
