Husband exposed to Asbestos

My husband was exposed to asbestos in the 70's. He was a steel worker and welder for 25 yrs. He has had chest pain and shortness of breath. In July of this yr it showed on a CT scan that he has plural plaques that have calcified. He is also nauseated , has shortness of breath and chest pain with any activity, vomiting, and losing weight w/o trying. The Dr. appt isn't until 10/27. Should he been seen and what should we ask???
