Methadone Detox Day 14

Its been 14 days off of Methadone. I stopped coldturkey at 120mgs. I hate to love this drug. I went to the clinic for the wrong reasons and its the most addicting thing Ive ever had. I am slowly getting through this one miserable day at a time. I am finding comfort in reading peoples stories and talking to people here. I am extremly depressed and craving bad. I just need support and if anyone wants to talk I would appreciate it. Its nice to know your not alone.

Keep going girl i know it's hard i too am in my 14th day of detox, cold turkey from 70mg for 10 yrs. they say the average time of detox is 14 days. if that's true we are out off the worst so it should be a hell of a lot better than when we started this mess right? just keep going i'm here with ya and everyone else, lets just DO THIS!!!!!!!!! let me know if you need me, and anyone else who my need me as well I'm here for all of us. LET'S DO THIS!!!!!!!!!

hi just read your post and was wondering how you are. Did you make it off this terrible stuff? I am trying to get down and get off eventually as I have been on methadone for 16 years. I was at 160 and now down to 120. I plan to do it slow but let me know how it went for you if possible. good luck to you! brenda

Hey there coalson! I actually haven't been on in a while, but I must say tapering slowly I s key to staying sane! I have been on 5 mg now for about 2 mos. I have detoxed slowly, and it hasn't been horrible by any means. I dropped very slow every 2 weeks but stopped at 5mg to let my body adjust. It has given me the confidence that I can do this, and if I can u can! I have gotten into vitamins and supplements to help me get my health back in order along the way, and help me sleep. I am in nursing school, and have to finish out this semester so I have to be smart about this. But keep your head up!! The people on here are amazing!! Ill check back in soon! hey I know what you mean I have been on 80mg for 10 months and although for me at the time it was the smartest choice I could have made I am now ready to be completly substance free and getting ready to start a medically supervised withdrawl program but I am very concerned as I do not want to fall back into any old habbits I too would love to just have someone to talk to the support is amazing and at times all I need to get through so hit me back.....

Ugh, girl you have some guts! and KUDOS to ya!! I remember when Hurricane Katrina came I was FORCED to stop at 80-120 mg CT, and it was miserable! So much so when I finally returned back home to LA after 3 1/2 weeks, I had to get back to work....back to trying to put life back together, so I found a couple of pain pills just to be able to function & get back to work. Well, that began this vicious cycle again! I kick myself in the A$$ everyday for not sticking it out since I had gotten so far at 3 1/2 weeks! I am now on 6 mg, about to drop to 5 tommorrow. Its been a lon journey, but im SO ready for this to be OVER!! You really have strength & fight in you that you should be proud of! It will eventually pass! You keep on truckin'!!!! Jewlz

I know how you feel, for sure. I am getting ready to start my detox in september and I am scared ******** because I've been through it before and know what to expect. Stick with it though.... the human body can handle so much more than we give ourselves credit with. If you know anyone who has went thru the same thing and has been successful, try to talk to them and get support anywhere you can. Trust me, it helps. Were you at a clinic or what? And why in God's name are you going cold turkey from 120 mgs?????? That is not the safest idea, ya know? You're mind is going to be frazzled and all over the place, if it isn't already!  I wish you all the best hun and you are not alone. It can, and has been done MANY times and you will be no different.
