Confused Symptoms, Sinus or migraines?

Well, first of, hiya everyone, i just joined upto the forum with a few hopes i could find some help :)

So here goes my first question and i'll start right off.

For a at least a good week or two now, i've been having unsettling symptoms of what feels like a fever or migraine, and its confusing me because i cant pin it down to one thing!

I'll list the prominent symptoms that i experience -

Itchy eyes

Restlessness, loss of appetite.

Dizzyness and Vertigo - Literally feels like i'm floating along off my seat or when i'm walking its like quicksand! with slight trembles, dizzyness seems to be more in my head and neck region. it feels like there's a hell a lot of pressure squeezing and pulsing round that region.

Aching, pains, and Weird like burning sensation around my eyebrows (more dominant on the left side) left temple which feels sensitive (i can actually feel something in my teeth when i touch it)

Nose Runs on occasion and i'm coughing up a fair amount of pleghm (no traces of blood or any discolourment, although can be clear and very liquidy sometimes)

Can be very irritable, sensitive to some high pitched sound and lights that seem to bring on the symptoms worse!

Sleeping pattern is disturbed due to feeling very anxious or worried there's something serious (a relevant factor applies that i was diagnosed with High stress and Anxiety tagged with Agrophobia, but the agrophobia  has been pretty mild i am able to go out)

So really, topped with anxiety and worrying going on, symptoms can vary from mild to worse, and i dont know whats what! i'm considering seeing the doctor, but, if anyone knows something over the counter i can get from a pharmacy,(possibly anti inflammatory? or Painkiller would that help?) i'd hate to waste my GP's time finding out something i could've treated myself.

thankyou to anyone who responds!

XJ

Hiya Marileew!

yes! with regards to the pain, it varies from a dull ache to quick like, hot shots or pulses, but its not the severe type that would take me off my feet, and at other times its just a dull to meduim burning sensation around the left temple and eye/eyebrow which lingers either all day or for a few hours. i've found that drinking orange juice and keeping hydrated seems to reduce the burning sensation and aches in my head, and eases the runnyness of my nose n throat for a little while...it feels very much like a cold or flu (i should also have mentioned that i had a cold roughly a week ago maybe its still there sort of?)

I'll get onto seeing what medication can help and if things do get worse (which i hope not fingers crossed!) it'll be a trip to the docs straight away :)

Thanks so much for repsonding!

Hi there!

I don't think you mentioned pain at all? Is there headache pain at all? What would you rate the headache pain? Mild? Moderate? Severe? Or the "Worst pain you could ever imagine"?

It sounds like you could just be sick with a cold or the flu or something... if you feel like you have a fever. Or you could have severe allergies. All of your symptoms match flu/cold/severe allergies I think.

But, if you had said you also had SEVERE head pain on ONE side of your head, and I mean severe, like worst pain you've ever had but maybe not the worst pain you can imagine... then it could be a cluster headache. But you didn't mention pain at all. So it is probably not that.

If you are just experiencing mild to moderate head pain or discomfort, and a variety of cold and flu symptoms, it is probably a cold or a flu. Most of the time for a cold or a flu it's best to just stay home unless you don't get better with home treatment, and then you should go to the doctor because you might have a bacterial infection that may need treatment. But... if you think you should go to the doctor, it's always good to go to the doctor just in case I guess. You also mention buying an over-the-counter product to help with your symptoms... I think that before you buy anything you should go to the pharmacist at the pharmacy and tell them your symptoms and ask them to suggest a product, you could also ask them if they think you need to go to the doctor... pharmacists are often helpful.

If you have a cold and a flu and any of the following symptoms pop up, then you should seek medical attention immediately... otherwise rest and home treatment is fine... but the following needs medical attention immediately (that means same day, go to emergency if it is night time):

- The WORST headache you've ever had that comes on immediately
- The WORST headache you can imagine
- A severe headache with a stiff neck
- If your fever goes over 40°C (104°F)
