I'm a 30 year old female and have been experiencing headaches every day for about 5 months. The pain is usually behind my eyes, forehead, and cheekbones, but also the left forehead and left side of the head. I occasionally have pain all over my head. I initially thought it was allergy and sinus related, but I was also having forehead nerve pain above my left eye. After OTC meds and a round of antibiotics, my GP said I could be having migraines or it could be trigeminal neuralgia. We decided to do an MRI do rule out anything else, and after the results, she ordered an MRA which found a 5mm fusiform aneurysm in my left middle cerebral artery. After meeting with a neurosurgeon, he stated that the aneurysm isn't causing my pain and it has probably been there since birth and there doesn't appear to be any risk involved. He suggested I see a physical therapist because neck problems are the cause of many headaches. That was just before Christmas.
I have tracked my pain daily since then I have had mild, moderate, and severe pain every single day. It seems that changing weather patterns make it worse, but it hurts on sunny, clear days too. When my heartrate goes up, my head pounds and pain increases. I take Fioricet during the day and it only helps some of the time. Last night the pain was so bad I almost went to the ER and I NEVER consider that. I found a year old Rx for Lortab and that helped ease the pain so I could sleep. I took one again tonight and it is helping.
So I guess my question is, what types of headaches could I be having, and is it possible I am having more than one type simultaneously. Also, I don't want to take major pain pills on a regular basis, so what are my treatment options. It feels like I have tried everything. I have not been to a physical therapist, because in no way does my neck hurt and I don't see how that can cause my forehead to hurt.
I have another appt. with my GP on Thursday to talk about options, but she may be at a loss as well. I'd appreciate any info. Thanks!
