Migraines

I am a 28 year old female with a sub-arachnoid cyst and multiple lesions on brain and spine. I have always had problems with migraines but recently they have gotten a lot worse and getting them on almost a daily basis and have no idea why. I know that the sun and heat are triggers for me but it doesn't even seem like there is anything that isnt a trigger at this point. Any advice on what I can do to maybe prevent or stop this from happening on a daily basis?

Most people have never heard of this treatment.  There is a skin gel that does not go into the blood stream that helps with my migraines.  It's an anti-inflammation gel.  I am not allowed to have any anti-inflammation meds due to my kidney failure and my kidney doctor said it was no problem for me.  So I know that it would not get into your system to affect your twins.  I use it almost every day.

This gel I put where my headaches are the worst on the front of my face.  It helps the milder to moderate migraines.  And getting them early may prevent the more serious ones.  The ingredients are:  Amitrityline-2%, Ketoprofen – 10%, Gabapentin – 3%, Lidocaine – 2% and Transdermal Gel – 60 g.  Needs a prescription to get.  You'll need a special pharmacy who can mix it up.

If you have trouble finding one, my pharmacy also mails them out.

Also, putting an ice pad on your head can sometimes help a migraine.

Let me know if this info helps you at all.  Good luck.

I have a neurologist due to the lesions on my brain and spine and the cyst and they have tried several different things a lot of them worked. However Im pregnant with twins and extremely high risk so a lot of what would usually work for treatment is off limits.

There are many treatments available to treat migraines.  But what medical attention have you gotten for them so far?  It sounds like you need to see a neurologist or a headache specialist.

And if you are taking any kind of pain reliever, even OTC ones, 3 times a week or more, then you risk constant rebound migraines that can be much worse.

Please provide more information about what you've gotten for your migraines so far, then I can be a lot more helpful.  Take care.
