Migraines

Hi! I am 23 years old and have had migraines for a while now. I have been getting odd sensations almost that resemble  partial seizures. I had an eeg done and it was normal. I heard that can happen. My dr scheduled me for another eeg because I had seizure activity with lexapro.(anit-anxiety) has anyone had that problem with lexapro? My neurologist said I had Atypical migraines. Basically my headaches do what they want whenever they want. I can have the symptoms with no headache or the headache without symptoms or visa versa. Im basically scared that im having seizures too. I am also on a beta-blocker (INderal) for my heart rate (sinus tachycardia) I have been very healthy all my life and now i am having a fast heart rate and possibly seizures, or just atypical migraines. I just find it hard to believe migraines can mimic seizures. anyone have any advice or relative experiences.

I honestly have kept logs and can not find any triggers to headaches. I have changed diets so many times and no matter what I do they come and go when ever they want. I just get like upper body contractions followed by hot tingly sensations and a rapid heart rate. I know whats going on when the episodes occur and i havnt lost full consciousness.  all my seizures have been simple or complex not grand Mal.  I have developed anxiety/ panic from all this and all the drs want to put me on a preventative but im afraid of having more seizures since im so sensitive to seratonin reputake.  The only thing i can relate any of this to is falling on my neck a few years ago during gymnastics practice> Thats when all this started.....i have had negative mri's and Ct's though. I am just so frustrated. So what happens if i keep having normal EEG's.

Hi,

How are you?
Migraine headaches are sometimes associated with seizures. The seizures may occur either before a migraine attack or after. The two are not directly related and are separate entities.
Generally there is an increased incidence of seizures with Lexapro in people who have a history of seizure disorder.
Is there anything that triggers the headaches that you are experiencing?

In march when all my issues started I to had seizure like activity I would have one every few minutes and I did this for days. I haven't had one since April, but my Neuro is having me do a 72 hour digitrace EEG to make sure I am not still having them without knowing it. When I 1st went to the hospital in march I presented with stroke like symptoms, I couldn't really use the left side of my body, I couldn't speak and I was twitching really badly. It is hard for me to imagine as well that Migraines could cause what I went through but my Neuro really beleives I am suffering from Complex or Complicated migraines with neuro symptoms. Hopefully you will get more answeres soon and be on your way to dealing and treating it!!
