Although pituitary enlargement are often associated with a tumor, other considerations that should be ruled out include internal bleeding into the ,thyroid disorder, or other underlying ailments such as sarcoidosis disease. Treatment is recommended as soon as the condition is diagnosed.

Hi,
How are you? The cause of  pituitary enlargement or tumors are unknown. And there are not enough studies showing any association to stress. However, some are part of hereditary disorder called multiple endocrine neoplasia I, which is hereditary. It is best that you discuss this with your attending physician for proper evaluation also. Take care and regards.
