ibs and migraines

why does ibs cause migraines i have a migraines for 6 days now and have been told it is very common in ibs but not told why.just incase i was checked for everything else bloods head ct etc all normal .it is in realation to nerve supply and if so does anybody have any tips etc --not really looking for med advice here

A large number of clinical studies have found the association between IBS and migraine.
Migraine patients are more prone to IBS and vice versa. The association is still being worked out and the role of brain gut axis is being studied. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter released from the intestine and is also involved in the pathogenesis of migraine.
