im a 23 yr old mum to 3 kids, i suffer with bad headaches and migraines from the age of 9. when i was 7mnth pregnant over a yr ago, i had a bad turn. my eyes went funny, the my left side of my face when numb, lips was tingly, left arm gone and my left leg, it was a suspected stroke but then everything else was fine, this lasted for 2hrs then bk to normal, i seen a neurologist and it came to a migraine. this has happened loads of times! or my it can be just my arm, or pins and needles or numbness in arm or leg. then my left arm went paralysed. i was taken into hospital, and a nurse had to take of my top, bra and get me into a gown, this last for 8hrs then i was very weak afterwards. since then again it kept having numbness or pins n needlesin leg or arm and face. about 2 months ago i had a unexplained fit and im seeing a neurologist on 17th dec. 2 weeks ago i went to bed with pins and needles in my left arm, when i woke up my arm was fine! but my left leg was paralysed. i coulnt feel anything nor move it, a week later my right leg has also gone paralysed. i have had a mri and ct scan on my head, mri on my whole spine and seen a vascular surgeon, everything was clear. but my bloods are saying they are fighting an infection yet got no infection so basically my blood is fighting my body. i am extremely tired and gone off food. has anyone had this problem??

i had been diagnoised with hemiplegic migraines and have had them since i was 8. i have now been diagnoised with coversion disorder too, a stress condition due to my migraines and instead of just having my left side being numb or paralysed, my right also went to, i will have this for the rest of my life, have anyone else sufffered with these 2? i have tried loads of tabs and none work but the last lot of meds iv had makes my migraines 10x worst, theyre called amitriptyline, and last night one min i was fine, the next i was the worst i ever been, i couldn move my neck, and i was crying with pain. i was led down in my bedroom for over 2hrs not being able to move and i was in tears the whole time. gradually i went to sleep and when i woke up my left side is extremely weak. now my face is dropped, im drowling, slurred speech, left hand and leg is gone. i only just remained movement in my legs after my conversion attack and i only just started walking, was let out of hospital after a 5day stay after being refered by my neurologist. i came out on friday, 4days before xmas, my longest every migraine lasted for 6wks. what meds i people on that they have helped you with, im getting sick and tired of this and im a young mum for 3, please help me with advice that i can ask from my doc

Hello,

I also had a number of crazy neuro symptoms this past year that lasted for 3-4 weeks each time. Pins and needles, dizziness, left leg weakness with many trips and falls, near passing out, major weight loss (15-20 pounds in 1 month), etc. After a work up by a neurologist for everything under the sun... she called it migraines with stroke-like symptoms. I looked around here on the forum for others with the same and didnt come up with much. Feels like its not a common condition.

If your blood work is something like an autoimmune disease, have you been worked up for NMO, antiphospholipid syndrome, and Lyme disease? I honestly dont know much about these other then I remember being tested.

How long has this been going on for you? Just watch out and take care of yourself. Keep calling the neuro docs office if things persist.

Best wishes.

Hi there. You are describing many of the symptoms of hemiplegic migraine. I have this as well, except for me it is extreme muscle weakness and not actual paralysis. Please look into this condition. If you have a direct relative that also has this, it is genetic and classified as familial. If it is just you, it is considered sporadic. Try not to panic. This condition can be extremely scary, especially when you don't know what is going on, but your risk of stroke is not that much higher than the normal population. It can take a while to learn your triggers but when you do you might be able to get better control over the symptoms. Make sure you see a good neurologist, preferably one who specializes in migraine. This type is pretty rare and many do not know much about it. Best wishes.
