pin point pulse headache

I get "pulse" type head pain, it usually is on the back of the head, but has occured at times at the side around my ear.  It feels like someone is pressing a button / buzzer.  The pain is like a pin point sharp pulse that lasts for approx 1 sec and then will go away for some 30 seconds before returning. This can continue for days.  Some times up to three days at a time.  It feels like an electric burning sensation and sometimes I feel like I have to close my eyes will the pulse is on.  I also note that my scalp around the area is very sensitive when this occurs.  It does not go away at night when I try to sleep, it keeps me awake.  I have been to the doctor, but usually after it has gone away.  I have had nerological tests, with probes attached to my head and and flashing lights but quite frankly I don't think they know what they were looking for.  Nothing seems to help, not 222's, asprin, tylonol etc.. Any ideas what this can be ????

I have been getting strange electric pulse-like headache spasms for a few days. I feel light-headed woozy too. My pulse is like a rythum of from the top front of my head downward pulse-pulse then stop for a number of seconds to minutes and then the same pulse-pulse. I feel quite odd and a bit out of sorts. It seems to always be by 2s and makes me think of some sort of scan or electric beat. It has to be one of the strangest and most annoying sensations I have felt in my life. I read some things with other people experiencing similar feelings and it appears to be medication related for most, especially SSRIs and other anti-depressants and change of dosage or even withdrawal from them. That actually makes some sense for my case, taking 2 anti-depressants and 1 is a SSRI (Welbutrin SR) plus I take 2 other psych meds for anxiety as well. I've had dosage changes before and never experienced this odd sensation until this time around. I drink a lot of water so for me it isn't dehydration related, which is another reason people stated they had a similar sensation in their head. I hope this helps some who feel this strange way because I was extremely worried before I'd read these similar experiences others had. I hope this pulsing goes away soon. A couple of days feels so long and draining with this that I'd hate to go weeks feeling this way. To others reading, have a great day and hope you feel better soon.

Anyone here figure this thing out?  I read the initial description...and it is almost EXACTLY what I experience every few weeks.  I'm having an "attack" right now.  I HATE this!  My doc didn't offer much help either.

Oh!  I just googled "occipital neuralgia" after reading another post on this forum, and it sounds a LOT like what you have!  I think I may have a milder form of it too.

I'm getting some of the same symptoms.  I have a dull headache on my left side with the occasional pinprick feeling that lasts about a second.  My scalp has sore spots too.  If you find out what's going on, let me know and I'll do the same.  Good luck.
