pressure in head and neck

I"ve been diagnosed with DJD C5,C6, had numerous MRI to check for nerve compression and vasular problems, both normal.  My broblem is that my my head feels like it's not balanced on my neck, I have pressure in my head all the time and my neck feels stressed I can't find a comfortable position, I have to keep moving it all the time.  I did have constant dizziness for a period of 8 months like I was on a boat while upright.   This has subsided in the last 2 months but my neck tension and head pressure and headache has become worse.  I have seen a neurologist but he referred me to the physiatrist who diagnosed my DJD, which isn't related to what I'm experiencing.  I've also been seeing a massage therapist which helps slightly but it always comes back en-force.

Hi,

Sorry to read about your head- and neck pains. I had the same and saw countless doctors, neurologists etc. for it. Something that unexpectedly helped me a lot is an atlas readjustment, the top cervical bone just below your skull. Many doctors don't know about this treatment and its claims may even be controversial, but for me it has done a lot.

What comes to my my mind is a displaced atlas vertebra. This can cause cracking sounds in your neck, headaches and a variety of other problems.

If on Youtube you look for this combination of words 'Atlas orthogonal correction' you'll find a video that explains what this is about. And with some searching on Google you'll find specialized chiropractors who can readjust (quick and painless) your atlas for you. Atlas Profilax and Atlas Orthogonal are two approaches, which I believe to be similar.

I hope this may help you, best of luck.

Steven

I have almost the same problem as you, with the headaches and neck, and have to constantly keep it moving, even if i want to sleep. When I lie still with my neck in one position for too the pain just gets worse and worse, and most morning if i managed to get some sleep i am in even more pain. It originates from either the right or left side of the lower neck by the base of the skull or sometimes from both places, or from my right shoulder, then to my neck then causing severe headaches. i have been in pain 24/7 for the last few years, also went for all the tests and scans and everything, but all came back normal. The only way i can stand the pain during the day is to overdose on painkillers every day, about 3 to 4 times the recommended doses, and these are the strongest painkillers i can find. I haven’t had a social life in years and its destroying my work also.

I don’t have any advice for you accept to say that i know what you are going through, and I hope someone here has an answer for you, that might help me also.

I have been looking into the different Nerve's that join in the neck and back, and this does answer some questions. I am also looking into Acupuncture. Then also more severely there is a procedure where you can have the nerves in your neck (and upper back and shoulders) surgically cut, thus you won’t feel the pain anymore. I know this isn’t the solution as this will just mask the real problem, but if no one can help or even just say for sure what the cause is, then is seems like a good option, just for the pain to go away to try and have a normal live as long as possible. I have been suffering for 21 years now since I was 12 years old, and it’s just getting worse and worse.
