Adderall, a combination of amphetamine and dextroamphetamine, can stimulate the central nervous system and affect chemicals in the brain and nerves that contribute to hyperactivity and impulse control. This is usually indicated for narcolepsy, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and may be used for migraine prevention. Hope this helps. Take care and regards.
Hi, I have the same problem. I have been suffering from migraines since 9 years old. I have been prescribed many meds and nothing works until I go to sleep. Recently I was recommended to try adderall, since my son started to complaining at migraines, I was explained that he is hyper and that could cause migraines. Lately my migraines were getting longer than 1 month, sometimes would last up to 3 months straight. Go to sleep with migraine and wake up with one. Since I tried adderall, I can hardly remember those heavy duty migraines! It works great for my hypertensives. But I just moved to a different state, and doctor doesn't believe that adderall can be helping. How can I be tested for ADHD and get the prescription that works for me? Thanks for help.
Hi, migraine is associated with low sympathetic nervous system activity. There is no definitive reason why this contributes to migraine. However, amphetamine increases sympathetic nerve activity which likely explains its effectiveness in migraine.
