Thanks a million,il go and see a neurologist.....
You should be tried on a variety of daily preventative migraine medication to prevent migraines. If one doesn't work, they should try you on another one. I take an herbal daily medication, Petadolex, that has helped me. None of the usual prophylactic meds worked on me without bad side effects.
Also, given the locations of your headaches and especially since your neck hurts, you may get significant relief from nerve block and trigger point injections. Even the few on the back of your head could help you. I get about 15 of these across my forehead, temples of the head, sides of jaw, back of head, neck and shoulders. They have helped me a lot. Most neurologists I've found do not know how to give them in all those places.
Plus physical therapy could help you because it corrects the tightness in your neck which contributes to the migraines, but I doubt that PT alone would give you enough help. I use it about every other day.
If the daily preventative meds don't help you and you have headaches at least 15 days a month, you would qualify for Botox injections. More on that later IF you get to that point. I've also been helped by those.
(It may seem like that's an awful lot of treatments for one person. You won't need anywhere near as many. I have very difficult migraines to treat, given they were caused by a major stroke.)
Plus there are a number of other treatments as well, so you can see what a truly lousy job that your current doctor is doing. You need to see a neurologist, or even better, a headache specialist. Or a pain management doctor. I'm assuming that you've only seen some primary doctor who knows nothing, but should have known to refer you to a specialist.
I think you are right,i am on treatment for hypertension and i currently wear spectacles coz my vision is not so good.i hv headaches every month for atlist 2 weeks.i usually take a pain killer and thts it but it doesnt seem to do mch.i have the headaches on my forehead, sides of my head and my neck hurts.
Are you kidding? Get a new doctor ASAP.
Aren't they treating your hypertension? And what eye problems? No treatment for them? Even so, you need help with your headaches no matter what the cause is. MRIs are done to rule out more serious conditions such as brain aneurysms, multiple sclerosis, etc. Most of the time, nothing is found. But you still need help with your headaches.
How many days of the month do you have them? How bad are the headaches? Where are the headaches? Do you have any neck pain or stiffness. That would help determine a treatment for you.
But for your doctors not to be treating your headaches at all is incompetent. Don't fool with them any longer.
I have seen my doctor but because i have hypertension and eye problems they think thats the cause of my migranes,il go and ask for a full MRI and see what they can find, thank you
Also you haven't said what medications you have tried.
Taking any pain reliever for 3 times a week or more does cause rebound headaches forever.
A daily preventative medication to prevent migraines would be the most obvious treatment. That means getting a prescription from a doctor.
Have you seen a doctor for these migraines?
I would recomend that you ask your doctor to have you a full MRI of your brain and neck.
