Hi,

Glad to know that the post was of some help.

Discuss with your doctor in detail about your diagnosis and what needs to be done next.

Keep us psoted on what your doctor advises and let us know if you have any doubts.

Yes, this med was prescibed by a Neurologist. He did not say that I have vascular headaches. I have always believed mine to be migraines. The Dr. did tell me that he will want me to stop taking the Sansert after 6 months as you can't be on it for extended periods of time.

I have contacted my local pharmacy where they know what all I take. I explained about my eyes and I am also very dizzy. They told me to discontinue Sansert and call my Dr. in the morning. I got the impression that this is not a very good med for my headaches.

I will post something after I talk to my Dr. tomorrow. I really appreciate the input that I have received. For some reason, side effects only seem to occur when you can't reach a Dr. I am scheduled to have the PFO fixed this Friday. I just recently found out that they think there might be a link between migraines and having a PFO. They will not close it for treatment of migraines at this time, but I qualify as I had a stroke 10 years ago.

Thanks again for the input. I feel better with the decision to discontinue the med until I have sought Drs. advice.

Hi,

Was the medication prescribed by a neurologist?

Sansert is usually prescribed in cases of vascular headaches and under close medical supervision because of the side effects.

It is discontinued if there is no response in 3 weeks time. On any patient taking the medication, a drug free period of one month is given after 6 months of taking the drug.

For cases of migraine, topiramae is another much safer drug used for prevention of attacks.

Have you been diagnosed with vascular headaches? Are your symptoms improving after taking the medication?

Do keep us posted and let us know if you have any doubts.

Hope his helps.

Regards.

I have contacted the compouding pharmacy that made the Sancert and was told to continue it until I talk to my Dr. I am having other side effects. I just don't feel like myself. I plan to call my Dr. first thing tomorrow morning.

I have read about Sancert and I agree that is is a serious medication. I was told I would only take it for 6 months, but the way I feel, I don't think I'm going to last.

Thanks for your input. I'll post something when I found out more.

Sancert is a serious medication and I am surprised that you were prescribed this for migraine preventative.  Are you experiencing any other side effects?  At a minimum call the pharmacy and see what the pharmacist says.
