Head Pressure

2 months i was standing upright when a sensation swept over my whole head that started from the base of my skull to the forehead. There is a constant pressure at the base of my skull now and I've also been experiencing tingling headaches at least twice a day, as well as tingling sensations in my legs down to my feet.  Soreness from neck down to shoulders and tightness in my chest at times.. This happens all day, 7 days a week.  I am 21 and a college basketball player so i'm very active and physically fit.  I havent been able to eat very healthy for about 8 months now due to financial instability.  I have been to the ER about 4 times since it started.  I have had a CT scan, and blood tests that have returned normal. They ruled out meningitis, tumors, and blood on the brain.  They just prescribed me painkillers and said i was fine but my situation continues to depress and worry me.  I have feelings that my brain is just going to explode.  I do have GERD and dont know if there is any connection between that and the pressure in my head. My doctor has told me the tightness in my chest is just due to the GERD. I have seen a chiropractor twice to adjust my neck in case of pinched nerve or stunted nerve flow to the brain.  This hasnt relieved me of my symptoms. PLEASE HELP!

Hi,
Thanks for the update. It is good that the spinal tap was normal. Do you have the results of the rest of the blood tests? Meningitis is inflammation of the protective membranes covering the brain and spinal cord. This may be caused by infection with viruses, bacteria, or other microorganisms. Treatment usually depends on the cause and antibiotics may be indicated for bacterial etiology.  Do keep us posted with the test results. Take care always.

Thank you for the kind words.  I havent had any trauma to the head or neck, no car accidents or anything like that.  The neurologist suspected mild signs of meningitis and set me up for more blood tests which i will find the results of tomorrow. I did have a spinal tap done which came back normal as far as i know since they discharged me from the ER about an hour after the procedure.

Hi,
How are you? Was there any trauma to the head or neck? It is good that the CT scan and blood tests were normal and  you will be seeing your neurologist soon. The tingling sensation and headaches  are usually associated with neurological issues and a complete neurological examination will help. I agree also that the chest discomfort can be associated with GERD, that can be managed with medications. Try to relax and think positive. Hang on and avoid feelings that could lead to depression and excessive worrying. Take care and do keep us posted.
