Like Venessa, I to work in the medical profession, but like you I have suffered from complex migraines since I was 18yo. I am now 58.
I was discharged two days ago from the hospital. I was having severe migraines off and on everyday for a month until 2:30a.m.one morning, my dog had to go out. I was lucky my daughter was up because along with the numbness , for the first I became so dizzy that i lost my balance and fell. Yes I had endometiosis and ovarian cysts and also fibroids. This started in my early twenties.
Now getting back to your headache and how you were dx. Vevessa is absolutely correct.Studies should have been done to rule out a TIA, that Venessa mentioned.
When I fell and went to the hospital and was taken care of by all my reular specialist, an Internist,a Neurologist and Cardiologist, I was in there for three days. I had a C.A.T. scan, an MRI and an Echo Cardiogram plus blood work. And this is far from my first stay for migraines.
For your own safety try to get all you doctors, good ones, in one hospital where they all know your history.
I have had a very hard life physically, so I know what I'm talking about.
I WANT YOU HAVE THE BEST OF CARE. Don't settle for less.
Much love and God bless
Hi,
Firstly, the complex migraine should have been differentiated from a transient ischemic attack which is a cerebrovascular disorder. This may not be very easy to do.The mechanism that causes a migraine and its symptoms in a complex migraine vary from that of a real stroke.Migraines are due to spasms of the blood vesesl within the brain while cerebrovascular disease is due to a blockage of the vessel or a bleed. I can not really say if those with complex migraines have increased risk for future stroke than those persons who don't have it. Although there have been some studies showing some correlation between migraineurs and increased stroke risk.
Having been diagnosed with complex migraines require close supervision.
Were your clotting factor levels determined?
Endometriosis have been associated with thrombotic states. You may want to discus the implications of these with your physicians.
