Hi,

Yes hunger is one of the symptoms of migraine aura. Other aura symptoms include yawning, increased thirst, visual symptoms like zigzag lines, auditory symptoms like ringing in the ears etc.

Nose bleeds also are a feature of severe migraines however it is important to rule out other important causes like high BP which can cause nose bleeds.

Thanks

You have a lot going on with these migraines!  How often does this happen?  Have you been to a headache center or neurologist?  We have a big university in my city and when I was suffering migraines, I went to the headache clinic there. Within a month, they'd pin pointed my trigger and it was food additives. Things like artificial sugar, flavorings. Anything fat free is bound to give me a migraine.  I eliminated those and have not had that same type of migraine since.  I was, however, in a car accident involving whip lash and at the time also drove 2 to 5 hours in a day for work. I had chronic headaches and neck aches then.  I saw a chiropractor, physical therapist and medical massage therapist. The medical massage was a life saver.  They only worked on my neck and head but it helped very much.  I went weekly.  You are on a lot of medications which I understand you need for relief but also wonder about those compounding the problems.  And caffeine definitely will help but is a short term solution because withdrawal from caffeine will actually cause a headache as you know.

Anyway, not sure where you live but if you could go to a place that specializes in migraines, it would certainly be a good idea.

Noticed yesterday, it was like I suddenly had a huge appetite, was starving.  This never happens.  So I ate something small twice during day, still hungry.  The blinding migraine started last nt, late.  1/2 of a 325/5 generic hydro codone helped, but when I got up later, the pain was so bad, I couldn't get downstairs for just a Tylenol.  (I also take 100 mg of Metotopfol three times day, and about 7.5 mg of Xarelto.    The pain seems to start in my neck, goup, then settle directly below, behind my ear and in the front of my ear, then goes around the back of my nevk, around the forehead, like a headband for hair.    Tried magnesium this wk:  no help for the pain.  When I get a shot of the Gabapentin, it works great, can prevent a full, 3-4 day migraine, or assist if I'm already in one.  CBD, nether topical or oral help any head or neck pain or migraines, at least for me.  Scared to take a tylenol w. this Gabapentin, so will stay up and take atylenolin a few hrs. The pills make me feel awful and not normal.  Why do the shots work w/out the side effects?    Discovered Coke, the soft drink, really helps the migraine, I believe due to the caffeine.  Drinking a McD's frozen drink, like Mocha, almost kills me, but it stops a migraine immed.  I can't get my breath when I cause a brainfreeze, so it's damned if you do, damned if you don't.

This is an old post but I came across it looking for some explanation as to why this happens to me too. For several hours before a migraine I get so so hungry. I can eat and eat and eat and nothing eases it. Then like clockwork, I start to get a migraine. For a long time I thought that I had low blood sugar that would trigger the migraine, but now it seems more like an early symptom of the migraine, not the other way around. It's so weird, and fattening too!

Almost everytime I get a migraine, after it goes away completely, I get so hungry. When I feel like one may start or is already in progress, I can not eat anything because it will make it worse. I have to wait until it goes away before I can eat, but then I can be like a bottomless pit and everything sounds good.

I get food cravings after a migraine has worn off completely.... and sometimes it's for the things that trigger my migraines, like cheese or chocolate!! I don't get it at all!!

Wow, I am not sure if that happens to me but I am going to pay attention next time. I just know that after a headache is gone I crave carbs. Usually Cheerios and whole wheat toast. I know when a migraine is coming because I can feel a "tightening" in my head. I'm going to watch closely and see if I get hungry before.
