I have been a long time sufferer of migraine, After reading the posts on this website i have deduced that my type of headache is an ocular migraine. I get an aura of a small dot in my field of vision in my left eye that steadily gets worse untill i have zig-zag arc shapes that flash with colours red, white green and blue. This usually starts in my left eye and then progresses into both eyes, and near the final stages leaves via my right eye. After this stage , if i havent taken any self prescribed medication,(migraleve) i get a terrible pulsating headache. After this i feel drained for a couple of days and cant think straight.
My question is that this has been the case for as long as i can remember but recently, after a bad case of flue, i feel my migraine has progressed. I now have a blind spot or scotoma, in my right eye at all times, in my periferal vision, as if i have a migrain aura, but the headache never progresses.
I spoke to my GP and he told me to see an Opthamologist. This i have done and he said that there is nothing wrong with my eyes. I also went to an optician and he did periferal vision, pressures and eye tests of which all we ok. I cant get rid of this blind spot at all. I have tried medication such as migraleve, beta blockers etc..
I have now asked to be referred to a migraine specialist.
I cant get rid of this blind spot at all. Its been with me since september 08 and is most noticable when im looking at bright colours, or illuminated backlights such as computer screens or tvs.
Have you any ideas of what may have occured and posibly what i could do to get rid.
Thanks
Rob
