Pressure in my head

For about a week and half I have been experiencing pressure in the back of my head. It feels like its going from the the back of my ears, across the back of the head and down by the skull in my neck. And sometimes I feel like it going down the neck area..I do have my pressure in the eyes and forehead but not as much as I thougth I would. The strange part about this is I very rarely have to blow my nose or feel that stuffed. I have been on Antibiotic now for 6 days. I have one more pill left. I think it is my sinuses but never experience the pressure in my head like this. I would feel fine for hours and then out of no where it was happen. Any suggestions?

Hi,

Complete taking your antibiotics and have a follow up assessment with your physician. If the sinus problems persist then you may need further intervention. The pain at the back of the head may be musculoskeletal in origin .How is your position when lying down ? Are your head and neck properly supported? When your nasal passages feel congested do you sleep with your neck slightly extended? These may cause neck and shoulder pains.
You may ask your physician regarding the use of analgesics for the pain. A massage , cold packs over the neck and shoulders may help ease the "pressure". If your problems persist further evaluation may be necessary.

Thanks for getting back to me. Yes I am taking the antibiotic for Sinuses. That is what the doctor gave me. She wanted to give me an Antihistamine but a few years back I had gotten the shakes and have been scared about taking them again. That was the first and last time I took one. It probably is silly not to try again. If it will help I would try it again
No I am not taking analgesics. I take Nasonex when I feel a little stuffed. I really do not have many headaches anymore. It is the pressure all in the back of my head (bottom of skull area) that I am feeling more. I can handle the headache and feeling stuffy. Just not that pressure I feel.

Hi,

Have you been diagnosed with a sinus infection? What was the antibiotics for?

Headaches may be caused by sinus disorders and this may be true in your case.It also causes spasms of neck and shoulder muscles that may present as tightness or tenderness over the area.

Continue taking the medications ( you have 1 pill left). Observe your symptoms. Are you taking any analgesics? If the headaches persist, seek follow up consult with your physician for assessment of your sinuses , ears and nasal passages. One has to ascertain what causes your condition first before a diagnosis of migraines or tension headaches is made.

Apply cool compress over the neck and back.A gentle massage and relaxation exercises will help.
