This headache is different than usual

Hi
I suffer with migraine a couple days a Month.  I just take medication and put up with them.
This one I am having at the moment is different though.....
I went swimming for a couple evenings last week and went a bit mad at it...I had a headache when I got out of the pool and later that night a painful stiff neck.   The next day I felt really ill with a intense migraine type headache that seemed to radiate from the back of my neck. I have been three days now in agony.

I have no nausea, no tingling, numbness anywhere else in my body, no rashes,,,just a stiff neck and blinding headache.   I also have a tender spot at the base of my skull at the back.   My temperature was up slightly too.

Any ideas welcome..

Thanks for that dr _simran.

I already know I must avoid chocolate and citrus fruit...Maybe coffee should go to?

I will consult a neurologist.  I didn't give any degenerative spine changes a thought, considered myself too young, but, I suppose I'm not really.

Thanks again

Hello Betty22,
The neck stiffness and pain at the base of skull could be due to cervical spondylosis. You should consult a neurologist and go in for a x-ray to rule out any degenerative spine changes causing the headache..Also there could be some dietary factors aggravating the pain like coffee, chocolates, mushrooms etc.Try to eliminate such factors ,which may be also contributing to the pain.
