It means, it all likelihood-your scan is normal. These little hyperlucencies show up from time to time, nobody gets too excited- they are areas where the brain has calicifed a little or an old scar. The pineal cyst is dull- very common and IRRELEVANT to your life.  Sounds like an essentially normal scan to me!

Hi,
How are you? Are there other symptoms present?  A pineal cyst is a benign fluid-filled mass and can be found incidentally in a scan. The hyperlucensies,as mentioned, may also be observed in some instances. It is best that you discuss your results with your attending physician for proper evaluation. Your medical history and presence of symptoms must also be correlated. In some cases, the cyst may also be followed with occasional MRI scans to determine if it is enlarging. Take care and do keep us posted.

Hi,
Thank you for your update. If you now have daily headaches, I recommend that you have this checked by your doctor or be referred to another neurologist. A pineal cyst is usually benign in nature and asymptomatic. However, a cyst may enlarge and press on surrounding structures causing symptoms such as headaches and blurred vision. If you have severe headaches, it is best that you have this evaluated further to rule out any change in size. Take care and hope to hear from you soon.
