hi,
yes imitrex worksvery well in children suffering from migraine. simple icepacks on the head help very well too. Also if you or your daughter can identify a dietery trigger that would be great as that is the precipating factor in 25-50% migraineurs.
Hi,
You should infact consult a neurologist about the medication which would be best suited for your daughter. The other option till you get an appointment scheduled is that you could see to which medicine does her migraine respond more effectively. Try to avoid any precipitating factors laos like sun/ strong light/harsh music/stress. That would help a lot along with certain breathing exercises and yoga also benefit to a certain extent.
Inderal is a joke. They tried me on that and my heart slowed down like crazy. I was 16 when the Dr. rx'd that. Imitrex works pretty well, I've been on it for about 3 years, just take it when she feels like a migraine is coming on. Best of luck. I'm 18 now and in college and Migraines are still stopping me from accomplishing my potential. Get the help now. And see a neurologist about the migraines I waited until my migraines kept coming more often and they could have been prevented much earlier if I had went years ago.
