Hi,
A differential for this may be cluster headaches, occipital neuralgia, tension headaches, headache secondary to a sinus or eye problem.
Cluster headaches are usually associated with eye redness, tearing and nasal discharge. The headaches may come in spasms and may be located in the area near the eyes. The pain may be sharp and stabbing and may last for a few seconds. This may be aggravated by alcohol intake. Does this fit your profile?
Headaches may increase pain sensitivity of nearby structures and this is usually evident in migraine headaches.I suggest that you have your condition assessed by a neurologist and have your headaches classified.
Thanks very much
Do you experience any bouts of headaches prior to this? YES
If yes, how would you characterize the headaches? THE SCALP PAIN I MENTIONED USUALLY ALTERNATES WITH THE NECK/TEAR DUCT PAIN
Is there any associated eye redness or tearing? SOME REDNESS AND SOMETIMES A LITTLE TEARING
With regards to the painful scalp, are there any notable lesions in the area? SMALL AREAS NEAR THE PAIN-MAYBE ONE OR TWO AT MOST THAT GO AWAY
Any redness, scaling or itching in the scalp NO
Hi,
The pain sounds like it is nerve related.
I just have a few questions:
Do you experience any bouts of headaches prior to this?
If yes, how would you characterize the headaches?
Is there any associated eye redness or tearing?
With regards to the painful scalp, are there any notable lesions in the area?
Any redness, scaling or itching in the scalp.
Do keep us posted with your answers.
