Almost 7 weeks after natural miscarriage, but no period still

Hi
I am new to this forum and this is my first post. I am 27 years old.
My proper period was on 09/29/12 and when I didn't get my period on Oct I suspected pregnancy. I had all the symptoms - sore breasts, vomitting, tiredness, increased sense of smell, and I wanted to wait for 40 days to take pregnancy test. I got an appointment with doctor for 11/07/12, but I woke up with blood all over my pants on 7th Nov. Doctor did an US and found the fetus with blood clots in uterus. I was given Duphaston tablet and injection to help with pregnancy. I was told that I have a higher risk of miscarriage. I continued to bleed for two weeks and passed some heavy clots almost everyday. Ever since I started bleeding, I stopped having all pregnancy symptoms altogether. During my next appointment with doc on 11/21/12, again had an US and found that uterus is completely clean. Doc said I miscarried naturally(I was 5 weeks 5 days during my first US) and passed out everything. Then, I was given an antibiotic course for another week to remove risk of infection. I went to doc again on 11/28/12 and since my bleeding stopped on 11/22/12, doc said another US is not necessary as my uterus was already cleared. I was told to expect periods in 4 to 6 weeks. My DH and I didn't want to wait for another cycle and we just continued our way.

Now, today's date is 12/27/12 and I haven't got my first period after natural miscarriage. It has been almost seven weeks from the date I started bleeding (I started bleeding on 11/07/12). I took a HPT on 12/26/12 and it came out negative. I have been spotting brownish discharge (can be seen only when I wipe) for about 4 days and very mild cramps at around 11 AM every morning for 4 days.

Is this normal? When can I expect to have my first period after natural miscarriage? Has anyone been in this situation before and what did you do?
