Does a positive then negative test mean a miscarriage?

Hi, I tested positive last week and then negative a few days later. I tried again today and it was also negative. I've had a VERY small brown spotting..VERY small, and now my breasts ache and I'm starting to feel a bit queazy at time. The tissue below my belly button and to my sides feels fuller and more like muscle than before. Is it possible to get negatives after a positive? I'm now two weeks later for my period but forthe last 3 days I've been feeling like is going to start at any moment. Is a blood test more accurate or am I kidding myself!

Thanks
PP

Thanks for letting us know what happened.  I'm really sorry it didn't work out for you this time.  I know it's devestating to have a positive and get all excited and then lose it.  Take good care.

Hello, just thought I'd up date everyone as I find it annoying when others don't let us know what happened! I had an appointment to see my gp this morning, and about 20 minutes before I left I started to bleed.

Should I every get pregnancy symptoms again I think I will let it be for a few weeks rather than put myself through all of the torture involved in 'am i aren't i'

Well i 'aren't'

Good luck to the rest of you!

I'm really sorry about your m/c, and the positive test you are getting is most likely the result of hCG still being in your system.  With my last m/c it took 2 weeks for my hCG to go back to 0.  Most women will not ovulate until the hCG is almost gone or gone, so most likely you wouldn't be able to get pregnant until that happens.

You might want to talk with your doctor and see what he/she says about trying to conceive again. After my m/c I took home pregnancy tests until I got a negative.  And then I started using OPK's to find out when I was going to ovulate (and for me it was 16 days after my m/c) and I tried again at time. Good luck to you.

A blood test would be the most accurate.  A positive test and then negative could be the result of a chemical pregnancy. It could also be a false negative. And there are probably other reasons that this could happen.   So like I said, a blood test would let you know if you are indeed pregnant or not. Good luck.

Are you using first morning urine when you test?  That will give a more accurate result at home.  A blood test at the drs office is the most accurate though. Good luck.
