I would highly recommend doing some web research to learn about estrogen dominance, low progesterone, and how pthalate exposure can lead to these, which can result in miscarriage around the 5th or 6th week.
Ater giving birth to a completely healthy baby girl in 2007 with no complications whatsoever, we moved into an apartment where I was being constantly bombarded by concentrated perfumed laundry toxic waste air. The dryer exhaust for the entire nine story building's laundry room was vented right below my bedroom window. I had already stopped using artificially perfumed products at that point to improve my lupus symptoms. I kept my bedroom window shut tight almost always and it would drive me absolutely nuts that every time I was finally able to have my window open for some fresh air, I'd have to slam it closed again within minutes because toxic waste air would start pouring in almost immediately. I begged and begged and begged for the management to divert the exhaust hose away from my window, but they just flat out refused.
I went on to have EIGHT early term miscarriages, one after another, over the next five years. Each miscarriage was in my fifth or sixth week of pregnancy.
Most laundry detergents and fabric softeners are full of phthalate chemicals, which are xenoestrogenic. With regular exposure, it screws up your hormones, causing low progesterone. Progesterone is critical for maintaining the uterine lining in a pregnancy. Studies have been done which linked phthalate exposure to miscarriage in the fifth week.
I hope my experience can help someone avoid the horror and griief that come with each and every new miscarriage. There are progesterone creams available which you can use to support maintaining adequate levels. Get some hormone tests done and avaoid artificially fragranced products like Glade like the plague.
I'm really sorry to hear this and about your loss. So, what does your OB say? Have they done blood work to check your hormone levels? This is your next step. Self induced bed rest will not prevent a miscarriage in very early pregnancy. Pregnancy is not supposed to be so fragile that a newly pregnant woman has to disregard regular activity. so, you are not doing anything or doing something that will cause miscarriage. Most likely it is more to do with a hormonal issue. Talk to your OB for guidance. And let us know how it goes and what they say. hugs
