How long did it take to miscarry naturally after a missed miscarriage?

It has been just over 4 weeks since my twins hearts stopped. I found out 2 weeks ago and for many reasons decided to wait things out and have them naturally. Well, nothing has happened and I have absolutely no signs of miscarrying. I was just wondering if anyone else has gone this long and longer but was still able to have a natural miscarriage. Im not worried about having the D&C after if there is still tissue, but I want to be able to have my babies naturally.
Please, any helpful thoughts and experience would be greatly appreciated. I do ask that people do not send negative responses about my choice in continuing to carry my babies. I understand that not everyone is comfortable doing that but its what I feel is right for me to do.

Thank you for reading

Hi how far along were you.  I was 14 weeks and my baby stopped growing at 11 weeks.  When I started miscarrying I also had no signs or symptons.  One the monday I had pink discharge and on the tuesday it stopped, went to brown disharge then a little bit of red and then I started gushing.  I changed 7 pads in an hour.  After 3 hours of gushing my waters broke and my son and his placenta came out.  The day after the miscarriage I was in a lot of pain from my uterus contracting back down to size but I just had to wait it out.  I still camped for about 3 weeks and bled for 3 weeks that included heavy bleeding, light and spotting.  I do remember cramping a bit after ovulation and before my first af.

I hope that gives you some indication of what you might experience.  It is a very scary time but if I were to do it again I would like it to be natural.  I would recommend carrying a few pads around with you and wear dark pants because it can literally happen without any warning.  I also had no pain or cramping, my only discomfort was an uncofortable back to the point where i could never get comfortable a week before I miscaried.

I hope that helps and I hope it does happen soon.  Thinking of you

I am sorry for your loss as well.
You give me hope though, that I can still do this on my own. It has been 5wks today and im going to be on the road tomorrow (moving), im a little nervous but hopefully we will make to the new place and then things will start to happen. Im curious to see how the new doctor will be with the situation...
Thank you for writing.

my baby died at 6 weeks, i found out at a 11 wk week scan and didn't actually miscarry it untill i was 13 weeks, so in total it took my body 7 weeks to miscarry my baby, but they say i had a missed miscarriage where your body doesn't realise its died straight away, i opted or a natural miscarriage aswell, i think itrs just up to each individual i felt more comfortable letting it come away naturally. so sorry for your loss. x

Hey

You could check with the hospital to see if you can get the remains after miscarrying.  I miscarried naturally in hospital and the doctor wrote that I wanted my baby's remains.  I did have to wait 29 days but I got them on the 29th day.  We brought our son home and buried him in a pot plant.  To be honest if it happened agai$n I would have just stayed home and had him at home because at the hospital I was so petrified when I saw him I couldn't pick him up.  I think that ismy only real regret that I didn't get to hold my son.

I hope you start miscarrying soon.

The previous comment was from me but somehow came from my husbands account (weird)! Anyway, thanks to everyone who wrote.

Thank you for the responses.

I would be 12wks2days, but the babies hearts stopped at about 8wks.
Its been just over 4weeks and so far i have had no signs of miscarrying but continue to have the normal pregnancy symptoms as with my first child; morning sickness, slight cramping, etc. It makes it harder when I feel as if im still having them. Dont get me wrong I know im not but im still going through all of what i was prior to finding out they had passed, which is why it was such a shock when they told me.
I am hopeful for myself after knowing that some have gone 6wks and were still able to do it naturally. I am keeping my doctor informed and she has brought me in for follow up scans. I will go in if needed but its very important to my husband and I to be able to do this at home. Its something i feel i should do naturally (if my body will), but also my doctor told me that by getting the D&C we would not be allowed to take our babies home to be cremated. They would be sent to a lab to be tested and disposed of. I cant let that happen. We want to be able to cremate them and have them with us always. Some people see things differently and the way I see it, from the moment i found out i was pregnant those were my children. I will treat them no differently than any child i would give birth to and i will love them no less!
I just pray everyday that I will be able to do this.

Thank you again, and I am so sorry for everyone's losses!

I am sory for your loss.  I miscarried at 14 weeks and my son passed at 11 weeks.  How far along would you be now???  I had no clue I was going to miscarry because my only scan was at 7 weeks and 4 days and my son was fine.

I have no regrets with miscarying natually.  My waters broke and my baby and placenta came out in one go.  I guess you could say it was like labour just not as intense because my son was the size of my finger.

It took my body about 3 weeks to pass him naturally.  I guess you just have to do what is right for you.  My friend carried her baby for about 6 weeks before she miscaried naturally.  She said that the baby had passed at 6 weeks and she miscaried at 12 weeks.  Goodluck with your decision

I found out my baby stopped growing at 8 1/2 weeks. The doctor said it was only 5-6 developed. It took my body just around 2 weeks or so for it to recognize the problem (I had no idea there was anything wrong till my appointment) and start miscarrying. Depending on your doctor's advise and your preference I would not wait much over 3 weeks. I can imagine if your body does not recognize the issue by a certain time it could start effecting your health. Keep your doctor updated but definitely do what you think is best.

Sorry for your loss and I hope things start moving along for you soon so the healing can begin.

Hi there.
According to my dates and scans my twins had died 5-6 weeks prior to me miscarrying. The doctor was not concerned for me to wait another 2 weeks to miscarry naturally
